Hey Little Magpie Blog

A bit of this and a bit of that!

While thinking about what I wanted to create this month…I came up with the idea to try and do a 12 by 12 page and then stretch myself and do something off the page. I  love the 6 by 6 paper pads. I will often buy them as I love the fact that the patterns are scaled down to a smaller size. And this month the smaller patterns are perfect for what I wanted to create.

So first off I made a page. For the first time in a long time I decided to use coloured card stock as the base of my page. Which I have to say I have done this again since then and am loving it!

I used this paper which I have used all the frames on this but I am going to buy a few more sheets because I love it.

I used lots of other frames on this page as well. The ones from the Cocoa Vanilla Line called Wild at heart and a wooden one from Freckled Fawn and painted it white.

I love washi tape so much. Sometimes small strips can add just little extra touch. I used some as the background for my photo frame so a little bit just shows through.

For this paper pad I chose the Cute Girl Paper. Which when I was searching the website for some stickers to match it I found that the Moon Struck line by Pink Paislee went perfectly with this.

I used this little puffy sticker to add some colour to this frame. The letter stickers are from cocoa vanilla colour me happy line. I have not previously used these…but they are just the perfect size and can be coloured on with paints or pastels! I added some smudges of just white paint for the background.

For my next project I wanted to make something that was not a 12 by 12 page. I made a frame a few years ago for my mother who is like me and is mad about teapots and cups and saucers. Ever since then I have wanted to make another one for me. So…as the 6 by 6 paper pads have smaller patterns on them they were perfect for this project.

I used a combination of the cute girl and the Go now Go  6 by 6 paper pads from American Crafts.

I used a combination of my electronic die cutting machine and outlines from the internet to get my images to draw around.

I stitched around all of the cups and teacups to add some more texture. Add some wooden shapes that were painted white onto the fronts. I also cut out some of the flowers from the paper. As the patterns were small they fitted perfectly on the tea cups.

My third project for this month is going to be an on going one from me on here. I have a Mambi Planner. I have this one.

IMG_3102

And it is beautiful! The colours inside are so pretty and some of my favourites. I have always had a planner on the go, but I really wanted to start making it more than just a place where I write stuff down….I wanted a planner that i would decorate and make pretty! and turn into more of a  memory planner. One of the things I love about the Mambi planner is how easy it is to add extras inside!

Making pretty paper clips is always a must with a planner. This one I just added the butterfly from the Puffy Moonlight stickers and adhered it onto a paperclip.

The first thing I wanted to add was a sheet were I could add the things I really wanted to achieve during the next month. I am still using the Cute Girl 6 by 6 paper pad for this as well. The smaller patterns are a real bonus when working on the planners.

IMG_3027

I added this in really easily….just add the right size card stock and punch holes in the side…you then add some slits and you are done, so easy. I had just finished making a page that was covered in hexagon shapes…so I re used my templates. Next month I will change it to a different pattern/design.

After I realised that adding in anything you want I couldn’t stop making things to add in. I have a really long list to have a try at over the next few months.

I used acetate was it was really sturdy. I made this flower and added it to the acetate. I made it double sided so when you flipped it over you had a pattern on both sides.

Now moving onto the actual planner. To decorate the planner I used a combination of the Cute Girl Collection 6 by 6 paper pad. These stickers from Me and my big ideas Value sticker book, Me and my big ideas colourful dots, and the value stickers> I also used some pretty things from Simple Stories

There is a month at a glance which I loved the minute I set eyes on it. All those little squares to sit and make pretty things to go in them! Now…I am aware that I don’t have many square covered up yet. But the planner didn’t start till July and there was no way I was going to wait a whole month to use it! So I plan on adding in the squares as they come in. Who can wait that long!!!!

I keep my planner bits and pieced by my chair that I sit on in the living room. That way I can sit and make pretty things while I am watching tv and I don’t have to sit at my desk to add one little square.

IMG_3183

Washi tape is really a quick and cheap way to add colour onto you planner!

IMG_3189

The little 6 by 6 paper pads are Ideal for planner making especially the cut apart sheets are they have such pretty design on as you know but they are perfect for the smaller space.

I added in two bits to this section as extras.

I have started to do Project Life recently and I wanted somewhere safe in my planner where I could store my photos safely until I was ready to create a page with them.

So I used one of the sheets from the Cute Girl Paper pad collection to make a little pocket. All I did was fold one sheet in half, adhere one of the edges and added in the holes to be able to add it into the planner.

I am also going on holiday in july and I printed out a quick trip packing list from my computer and added it into the planner.

Right onto the daily planner part. I like to keep the days of the week bits and pieces fairly plain and simple. I always have a lot to write down with scouting, sailing and my medical bits and pieces and scrapbooking assignments. So I keep as much space as possible.

I just used some sparkle and some washi tape to jazz it up a bit.
