Adding a splash of colour

Hello everyone, I hope I find you well this month, and you have managed to get your hands on some of the lovely new goodies that have been appearing in the shop in the last couple of weeks. Rather than diving in to my new stash…I may have a few new bits of paper, I decided to revisit some older by still fabulous bits and pieces.

When I first saw the paper designs which echoed the “colouring-in” trend, I knew that I had to have some, but the had sat a little ignored in my stash. But I re-discovered them and spent a afternoon painting the designs in a variety of colours. I love how I could make these papers fit with any collections in my stash, but they could be used as they are black and white.

Some of the new collection also have papers that echo this “colouring-in”, like this one from American Crafts Dear Lizzy Lovely Day Collection.

I did stick a lot with the Amy Tangerine Oh Happy Life collection as the he majority of these papers were from this collection.

This first floral paper I used red and yellow watercolour taken from the papers in the Amy Tangerine collection. Then using the black as the accent colour. I just used some cheap watercolour, but of course you could use pencils, acrylic or another type of medium.

As I wanted the background to be the main focus I added some simple layers using bits from the cut apart sheet and then added some stitching over the top of the paper layers, to help bring the page together.

I really love how the Amy Tangerine collection also includes lots of cards and pieces of papers that are phrases that can be used as titles. They also provide dedicated spaces for journalling.

The next layout I used the leaf print background and a selection of blue and greens. I fussy cut out frame from another of the Amy Tangerine papers and popped this up on the 3D foam.

I then fussy cut some flowers, a arrow and the title from some of the Amy Tangerine papers, and built these up in a cluster inside the frame. I used a couple of stickers from the Shimelle Go Now Go collection. The colours work in really well. I used some glossy accents from my stash to embellish the camera and the sunglasses.

Of course I know this may be too busy for some people, but I love how all the colours clash, and it picks up all the colours in the photos.

For the finial page I used part of one of the painted sheets to create a background layer, this one is from American Crafts Dear Lizzy Saturday. I then used this to pull other papers that matched from my stash. Of course you could do it the other way around and choose a collection or papers to take your colours from.

I pulled some of the Bella Blvd. Oh My Stars papers to create my layers. The stars worked well a this is the introduction page part of my USA album about a studio tour we went on.

I used a selection of embellishments from the Shimelle Starshine line. Even though they are a bit space themed, I thought it would work with the themes of being creative and the movies.

As you can see I really enjoyed using these papers, and how with a touch of paint you can make them work with any of the collections in your stash.  So despite all the new lovely stash, I hope you can look at some of the older collections in a new light.

I hope you have a great rest of February and I will see in March for another set of layouts.
