Amy Tangerine, Stay Sweet

Hi there, it’s Caroline here. This month I’m working with the wonderful new collection by Amy Tangerine, Stay Sweet and I have three pages to share with you.
It’s a beautiful range with lots of pastels and a gorgeous purple shade running through it. I also found I was able to mix in some of my leftovers from Amy’s Shine On collection as well as items from her Journal Studio range. 

Happy Birthday

For my first layout this week I used two 3 x 4 photos. Matting them onto white card to give them a narrow white frame. I selected my papers to complement the jumper in the photos. Using the Gumdrops Goodies paper and both the A and B sides of the Cosmic Candles paper. I decided on the placement of the papers on the background. Then removed them to apply some dry art crayon with a stencil brush through a chevron stencil to three areas of the page.

I stuck down my papers and photos to the page, overlapping the photos slightly. Then I picked two die cuts from the Journal Studio Die Cut pack. The ‘The Best’ circle die cut was perfect to go at the bottom left of the photos. I also chose a pretty dot frame, which I tucked under my photo slightly. Adding my title to the die cut with the rose gold Thickers from the collection. Finally I added my journaling below the photos and finished with three orange Nuvo Drops at the top right and bottom left of the papers.  

Chesil Beach

I started my second layout by using Vicki Boutin’s Art Crayons and her kissing technique to add a watercolour effect across the centre of my white cardstock. Next I mixed some Iridescent Glaze with the art crayon and repeated the technique to add a shimmer to the page. I punched out a number of circles from four of the papers. My colour choice for these circles was influenced by the colours in my photo. I positioned them overlapping about two thirds of the way down the page to provide a grounding for my design.

Next I tore the edges of some vellum to create a mat for my photo. Stamping some phrases and hearts onto it to give it a bit more interest. I then placed my photo to the right of the page and used some Thickers to add my title to the left. I selected two die cuts phrase banners from the Journal Studio Die Cut pack which works great with this collection. To finish the page I added a fussy cut camera from the Picturesque paper and some Shine On puffy hearts. Finally adding my journaling below the row of circles.    

Peek A Boo

My final layout is a traveler’s notebook spread. I started by choosing my photo and decided to print two versions of it for the page. Both the original version and a cropped version.

The first design I chose to use for this page was the Cozy Cottages paper. I cut a piece a little bit taller than my photos and placed it across the centre of my page. Along with strips from the B sides of the Popsicle Summer paper and the Eyes On You paper. This provided me with a place to position my photos, however I felt the page needed something a bit darker. So I cut a piece of plain black paper to mat my photos.

I kept my embellishment simple, selecting another of the round die cut pieces and a rose gold heart sticker from the Sticker Book. I added my title with the collection’s glitter Thickers to the bottom of my photo. Finishing the page with a strip of cameras from the Picturesque paper along the bottom of the page.

This page took quite a bit of rearranging before I was happy with it. Originally I was using a much larger piece of the house paper. However I felt it overwhelmed the page too much. Even though a full house is no longer visible on the page, it is still clear what the design is. I am much happier with this finished design.
