Bloom & Grow

As soon as I saw the new Simple Stories collection ‘Bloom & Grow’ I knew I needed it, if only to scrapbook a photo of my youngest step-daughter in a pixie costume that I had previously worn!

Love them or hate them, there are a few gnomes within this collection… But ‘Bloom & Grow’ offers so much more than the obvious little fellas!

I decided this month to focus on geometric elements along with some rather scrumptious flair badges, exclusive to Hey Little Magpie!

My first layout using ‘Bloom & Grow’ has a little banner of freehand cut papers from the 6 x 6″ pad, along with a cluster of more 6 x 6″ papers to mount the photo onto.

A selection of the chipboard elements including a dinky wheelbarrow and some fussy cut, even dinkier gnomes along with a couple of cute little bees, embellished with stitched trails made for a layout with a true whimsy feel!

And if you’re intrigued as to how the toadstool managed to hold Nina’s weight? Well her legs are inside the toadstool and her ‘fake’ legs are simply a stuffed pair of tights wrapped around her middle! She won first prize, as did I many moons ago!

My second layout is very reminiscent of a project life page, something that I simply have never got involved in, yet so admire the juxtaposition of the journalling cards that so many use when recording their memories in project life pages!

I cut the 3 x 4″ Journalling paper and then re=attached it back together by stitching it, replacing one 3 x 4″ Journalling card with my photo.

Did you spot the gnome?

As I mentioned earlier, ‘Bloom & Grow’ does feature other elements such as bees and birds – I do like these chubby little birdies!

My third and final layout this month using ‘Bloom & Grow’ uses a geometric arrangement of the photos.

I decided to turn the ledger paper on its side, something I initially thought taboo! But once I’d shuffled a few of the die cuts around, I was convinced that rotating the paper was the right thing to do!

And for all you gnome haters out there, this layout doesn’t feature a single one! But it has got a dinky ladybird, perfect to accentuate the red in my V-Festival hat!

It really is a very pretty collection indeed and so easy to work with….

So will ‘Bloom & Grow’ end up in your wheelbarrow… oops I mean basket?
