At first glance, this range is pretty girly. There’s lots of glorious pink and purple, along with butterflies, feathers and birds. But there’s also plenty of blues and aquas included in the colour palette, so like Niki, I chose to create a boy page with this collection. I made this one first, so that I could maximise the blue elements available to me before they got used up on other pages!

I chose a picture of my oldest boy zoned out in a relaxing bubble bath, and told the story of how he loves to lie like this, as submerged as possible, and sing to himself in the bath. I made the page in an informal grid style, and added just a couple of elements from another “girly” line – Shimelle’s Glitter Girl (the silver washi tape and the glittery enamel hearts) to finish it off. I tried to group things in threes so there are 3 enamel hearts, 3 leaves die cuts, 3 pink elements, 3 punched out hearts, 3 arrows etc. It’s more pleasing to the eye than even numbers of things generally.

For my second page I embraced the girliness and used the stunning Kaleidoscope paper for my background, with various other patterned papers layered up around my photo. I matted the photo on the white woodgrain design, so that it didn’t get lost amongst all that colour!

This page tells the story of my daughter taking on the role of her new class teacher, and reading stories to her “children” all lined up in her bed at night. The dream catcher element felt the perfect match for this page. I didn’t want hard edges, so I gently softened the edges of all of my papers by running my finger and nail along to just slightly distress them. Again I added a couple of finishing touches from Glitter Girl – this time the pink glittery enamel stars.

For this, my third page this month, I created a patchwork background across half of my page by cutting triangles from 3.5″ squares of paper and arranging them on a sheet of white cardstock. I filled the other half of the page with my photo, title and journalling about a trip to the zoo and my daughter’s wonder at the sealion tunnel there.

I used one of the gorgeous colour gradient titles from the chipboard sheet here, as I did on the second page – they are really stunning. I also added some Nuvo drops in my new favourite shade – navy blue. I had planned to use some of the really pretty bird elements from the collection, but they just didn’t sit right on the page, so I plumped for butterflies instead and I’m pleased I did. I do love butterflies!
