Bring on the Winter with Snow & Cocoa
Hi Magpies, Julie back with you today getting you in the mood for the cold days ahead with the great new collection ‘Snow & Cocoa’ from Crate Paper. It’s a really sweet collection with lots of snowflakes, snowmen & cute little birds in the lovely colour palette of turquoise, pink & mustard, perfect for your wintery photos.
My first layout ‘Let it snow’ I went with my tried & tested mixed media background, trying to make it look like snow (loosely) I first gessoed my page & then added watercolour paints, to the top of the page, allowing them to drip down. I then added texture paste, through a stencil, to the coloured parts of the page. I cut out a large snowflake, on my silhouette, & added some silver splatters to it & then stitched it onto my page using silver thread. I made a photo mat, out of papers from the 6×6 paper pad & added it on top of the snowflake & clustered ephemera around the photo, from the ephemera die cut pack & the adhesive chipboard. I ripped a few of the papers & sewed them to the top of the page. My title was cut on my silhouette & backed with paper from the 6×6 pad & also using the bright foam alphabet thickers. I finished the page by using some snowflakes from the ephemera pack, chipboard shapes & 6×12 sticker sheet all over the page & a sprinkling of white sequins & a few of the really cute mini pompoms, which I thought looked like snow.
My second page ‘so sweet’ I had this photo of my youngest daughter with Olaf, from the movie frozen, so wanted to use all the cute little snowmen in the collection. The paper ‘let’s play together’ is perfect for this as it has snowmen all over it, so I just fussy cut them all out to use on my page. I added a small bit of mist to my base paper, sweater paper, in turquoise, pink & gold & added a ripped strip of ‘Brrr paper’ across the middle. I then layered those cute snowmen at the top left of the page & put my photo, on a paper cluster, in the middle, on the right. I then just added a few bits of ephemera down towards the bottom & another cute snowman. I finished off with some glittery gold snowflakes, gold stitching & some phrase stickers. My title comes from an exclusive Hey Little Magpie flair badge.
My final layout ‘Winter Holiday Fun’ I again used some inks on the background but this time I splattered them on so they looked like they’d exploded on the page. I added a strip of paper to the top of the page & another two 3rds down the page. I then added my photo on top of this & put one of the frames, off the chipboard sheet, on top of the photo. When I removed this frame there were 2 in with it so I used one to the side of the photo, over a piece of ephemera & cut the other one in 2 & added one to the top & the other to the bottom. I then added all manner of bits & pieces, stickers, chipboard, die cuts, phrase stickers, puffy stickers, going vertically down the page. My title comes again from a Hey Little Magpie exclusive flair badge that was just perfect for this page.
I hope my layouts have inspired you to get scrapping your winter photos & if they have go & check out this fab collection, until next time xoxo
