Hey Little Magpie Blog

Clean & Simple with On A Whim!

Hey Magpies, Rachel here again to kick off the new month, welcome to April! This time I picked the Amy Tangerine, On A Whim collection to work with.  I liked the bright colours of this collection, bright colours are my bag baby! For my first LO I used the LOL Phrase Chipboard Thickers for my title. That Awesome word, I think I could use about 100 of those!

I also snagged this MAMBI Live Loud Washi Tape Tube which is on special at the moment. I couldn’t resist that black & white striped one and I also used the pink spotty tape on the LO as well.

As is my way, I’ve done clean & simple, graphic LO’s this month. Stick with what you know right! I used the stripey washi tape on the bottom and top of the LO. There is a roll of black & white stripey washi tape in the new Bella Blvd collection, Make Your Mark, here. I will be using that collection next month and I can’t wait to get started! But back to this month, I used the reverse of the Super Shot paper and put my photo centrally on it. I used some die cuts from an old pack, the felt bow is from Illustrated Faith and I dotted around the edges with Nuvo Crystal Drops, I used Carnation Pink and Caribbean Blue. I love Nuvo Crystal Drops, I find dotting a border of them quite therapeutic!

The Dimensional Inflated Ephemera from Amy Tangerine is fab! I just had to use the flamingo on my next LO, there’s no reason for it to be there apart from it’s awesome and I wanted to use it! So why not eh. This ephemera is puffy, it’s filled with air so it’s something different that’s for sure. I reckon this pack is a must have for anyone’s stash!

Dimensional Inflated Ephemera

I’ve had this pack of Crate Paper, Heart Day Rubber Hearts in my stash for a while. It was time to get them out and use them on this LO. These are also a cool embellishment, I like the dimension they add and they’re so cute!

I started with a black border for my next LO and the used the reverse of the Confetti Paper. I layered up some other papers including the lush Be A Unicorn coloured stripey paper from the Simple Stories Emoji Love collection. My title is the Black & White Thickers from the latest Shimelle collection and I used the Caribbean Blue Nuvo Crystal Drops again.

My next LO is a classic design, just four of the 3×4″ cards from the Good Stuff cut apart paper. These cards are always super easy to make a LO with, just use them in a grid and pop your photo on top. I’ve done LO’s like this so many times, they always work easily and well.

I also had these Fancy Pants, Joy Parade Puffy Stickers in my stash from a little while ago. I used the ‘enjoy’ for part of my title and also the orange dotty arrow as well. These are really cool puffy stickers, very good quality and fun designs.

Puffy Stickers

I used the fabulous Lets Dance paper as a border for the LO and then sewed my white on to it. I made the grid with the 3×4″ cards and laid my photo on top (it’s a postcard cause I couldn’t get a picture that good myself!). I used the LOL Phrase Chipboard Thickers along with the Puffy Sticker I mentioned above. Then I decided to bust out my very dusty eyelets and string some embroidery thread between them. I haven’t used eyelets for so long, it was nice to use some again!

Showtime

I hope this gives you some ideas for using the Amy Tangerine On A Whim collection and these LO designs can be used over and over again. I’ll be back in May with the Make Your Mark collection and I hope you all have a fantastic April. Bring on the spring!

RACHEL
