Embellishing with Freckled Fawn

Recently I have really enjoying browsing through the shop and finding little extras to add to my pages, from collections I wouldn’t usually look at, or items that aren’t part of a full collection. Freckled Fawn are a great place to start if you usually buy your embellishments as part of a collection and want to branch out!
They have a wonderful selection of items, including washi tapes, wood veneers, chipboard pieces, alphabets, enamel dots, metal and acrylic embellishments. I’ve used a variety of items on my pages this month, and you can find the full range in the shop here:

I have been (very) slowly working my way through our holiday photos from a trip to Disneyland 2 years ago, and used mostly Freckled Fawn embellishments on this page, alongside some paper pieces from my scraps basket and a few bits from an older Simple Stories line which I have been adding to most of these pages to keep continuity in the album.

I hand drew a large star in my background carstock and cut it out using a craft knife, then I added strips of various scraps behind the aperture to fill it with colour. I used alternate dots of dandelion yellow Nuvo crystal drops and gold glitter to outline the star. The wooden ‘today’ word is such a lovely font. You could of course alter it with mists or paints or inks, but I love the bare wood effect so I left it as it came.

I added strips of Freckled Fawn washi tape in a vertical positioning on the right hand side of my page, above and below my photo. I adore this washi tape. The gold on black is so pretty, and the phrases are extremely usable for all sorts of pages. I clustered various embellishments around my photo, including lots from Freckled Fawn – the gold glitter stars (amazingly sparkly and they don’t shed glitter at all!), the yellow enamel stars which also have glitter encased in them for a lovely effect, the enamel & metal paperclip, a wooden starburst circle to add a great layer of dimension, and a red star shaped paperclip (I’m almost at the end of my packet of these and will definitely be replacing them!).

The Freckled Fawn puffy alphabets are lovely too, and a smaller font than something like Thickers. I chose these white & gold ones to coordinate with the rest of my page for a simple title on my photo. One of my favourite things about Freckled Fawn embellishments is that they often come in mixed colour packages. The red metal star was with yellow and blues, the yellow enamel stars were with orange and pink ones, the gold glitter chipboard stars also had silver and blue stars. This really keeps your options open!
I picked a different holiday to scrap for my second page. This time a summer, beach type of holiday and some pool photos of my daughter from this year. I used a palette of bright colours – hot pink, aqua, yellow and lime green. Again I used scraps of paper on a white card stock background. The papers are a mixture of Simple Stories Sunshine & Happiness, and Paige Evans for Pink Paislee Take Me Away.

I cut my photos down to 3.5″ square, and added a Cocoa Vanilla die cut frame over one of them. Then I layered up squares and strips of papers to create a colourful block on top of which my photos lay. I used 3 shades of mist and 2 shades of Nuvo crystal drops to make a splash effect across the page , and looped some twine under the photos too.

These acrylic ‘fun’ words are one of the favourite things I bought. You get three in the pack and I used them all in a line to create a dynamic and colourful title on my page. They definitely add something a bit different. You can see in the photo above that they have a fair bit of dimension, and they have a see through quality too. I adore them!

I used more more items from the same packets that I opened for my first page, but in different colours so you can see how one pack can be used with many different colour palettes. Blue glittery stars, bright pink enamel stars, yellow & pink & blue enamel dots, and I added in mini metal pyramids for something a bit different too.

The pink arrow clip is also from Freckled Fawn, and they do shorter arrows too in mixed colours, and the enamel & metal paperclip comes in a set of 4. These embellishments are really great for clustering, and can complement all your other products hugely. The colours are varied and fun, and with such a great range of items to choose from why not pick out a few things for your basket?
