Escaping the Ordinary with Pinkfresh Studio
Hi Magpies, Julie back here again today & I hope you are all well & getting your scrap on. This month I choose 2 new collections in the shop from Pinkfresh Studio, Escape the ordinary & Boys Fort. I decided to mix the collections together as I thought the colours went well together. It’s a very muted colour palette of royal blue, rust, mustard, pale green & black, not my usual colours I go for but I wanted to change up my pages.
My first page ‘Happy days’ uses 3 small photos from a New York trip & these went great with the words & phrases in the Escape the Ordinary stickers. I used a cut file which I backed with some patterned papers & added it on top of an inked, stamped & textured piece of watercolour paper. My 3 photos went towards the top left, putting the middle one on foam for dimention. I added 2 torn & distressed strips of paper to the top of the layout & then proceeded to add all the lovely embellishments that are in the collections. The ‘Awesome’ & ‘the Best’ banners are fabric & add a lovely touch to the layout.
For my 2nd layout “Love Always’ I used a pattern paper as my background & added some ink, just by spraying it on the paper & dragging it with a credit card & then did a few drips with watercolour paints. I used the patterned papers to make my photo mat & added it to the centre of the page. I cut out some of the circles from the Boys Fort tough paper & added those around the photo, drawing on some of them & stitching around others. Again the ephemera packs just seemed to fit the photo & I used bits & pieces from them around the page. My title is made up from a cardstock die cut & a fab acrylic heart from Elle’s Studio.
My final page ‘Too Cute’ also uses a cut file but this time as my title & I just backed the one word. I did some mixed media on the background, splattering & inking before adding some small word stamps. I broke up the page by adding Escape the Ordinary Dare paper to the top section & put my photo at the right of the title adding my embellishments in clusters all around the photo.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing how I’ve used these collections together & I’ll be back next month using a Christmas collection
Until next time xoxo
