Everything Fine and Dandy

Hello Magpies,
Todays post is full of bright colours, cute embellishments and summer fun.  We have been having some gorgeous sunshine, although as I am writing this today the weather isn’t so good, which has meant that the lighting for my pictures is a little iffy. I am sorry for this – but the layouts are all still bright and colourful,  so hopefully this post will cheer us all up a bit.  I have been mostly using the Dear Lizzy “Fine and Dandy” collection this month and its just so yummy.  Lets get started…

For my first layout I wanted to play with some mixed media.  Mixed media is a big thing in scrapbooking at the minute and I had some extra pennies and invested in some stencils, mists and stamps to have a go.  I really enjoy working in this style and its a great way to make your stash go a bit further.  You can build up a background with the mixed media products and then make focal points with the photos, papers and embellishments. For this post I used the “Peonies” paper and the “Stripy Straws” paper.  The black and white stripy paper is from my stash. I find that black and white paper, with horizontal, diagonal or vertical stripes are really good for using as a basic mat as they are a very strong focal point to attract your eye to the photo. I often stock up when HLM has a sale on and have them in my stash ready to use when needed.
After backing the picture with a few simple layers I decided to carry on the black and white theme. The two frames are from Simple Stories “I Am” collection.  I finished this cluster off with one of the accents and phrase chipboard shapes from “Fine and Dandy” a bow from the same collection and a leaf from “Open Book” and old Maggie Holmes collection. The pink tag is from Fancy Pants “Summer Sun” and I stamped it with some stamps from my stash.  I used one of the HLM Flare badges on the bottom cluster and some sequins to finish off.

Layout number two is slightly more traditional and uses a lot more of those lovely goodies from “Fine and Dandy”

To start the page I splattered Heidi Swapp colour shine in ‘Gold Lame’ in a diagonal line across the page. I then used the “Peonie” paper, “Sweetest Soiree” paper and a blue and white stripy paper from my stash to make the layers behind the picture.  I also added some of the gorgeous glittered “Gold Foam Heart Die cut sheet” for dimension and some sparkle.  The embellishments come from the Ephemera pack, some Chipboard shapes and an acrylic bow. The red and white striped straw is from my stash. I finished off with some sequins, gold hearts from Seven Paper and tiny seed beads that are also from my stash.  I used the yummy pink Puffy Alphabet from Freckled Fawn for my larger font in the title and the small teal word tiles are from Websters Pages.

For layout number three I wanted to use all the lovely red papers as I thought that they would stand out a lot with the beautiful blue skies in my pictures.

I backed the white cardstock on this gorgeous red colour and then used the “Elated” paper and the “Peonies” paper to make a large strip that ran horizontally across my page. I added some gold washi tape from my stash in the join and then backed my photos with the other side of the “Elated” paper and attached it all to the horizontal strip. The gold heart is from the Gold Foam die-cut I used pieces from the Ephemera pack to create my cluster, adding the rabbit and the flowers from my stash. The pink and red hearts are from Studio Calico – they are quite old now though and no longer in stock. The red plastic bow is from “Fine and Dandy” and the red acrylic  banner is also from “Fine and Dandy”I finished off the page with more gold splatters using the Heidi Swapp Gold Lame.

For layout number four I did some more mixed media.  This time I splattered my page with lots of different coloured mists from my stash and then added modelling paste through some stencils.

While this was drying I cropped my pictures and then backed them with lots of layers.  The papers that I used were “Peonies”, “Stripy Straws”, “Make a Wish”, “Gleeful” and “Cheerful Chatter” paper. The green vellum is very old Maggie Holmes from my stash. I added the little dog from the Ephemera and the sentiment is from the Chipboard shapes. I finished the layout off with gold hearts from the “DIY” collection from American Crafts and little epoxy hearts from Pebbles Valentines collection. The alphas are from Freckled Fawn and Elles Studio.

Now to layout five. I used some of the beautiful wash tapes that come with the “Fine and Dandy” collection. These washis come in a flat pack and you get 30 different designs. I used them to make a “wall” effect on the bottom of the layout.

My picture is backed with some black and white paper from my stash. I then cut out some of the houses from the “Charming Charade” paper and stuck them at the top of the washi layers with a line of gold glitter washi from my stash in-between the two. I made a cluster next to the photo out of Ephemera, Chipboard pieces, some of the Gold Foam die-cut sheet and some wood veneer. The little button is from Shimelle’s “True Stories” collection,  the little dog is from Seven Paper and the “Oh so cute” banner is from Pink Paislee “Citrus Bliss”. I finished off with another gold heart from Seven Paper, a plastic bow from “Fine and Dandy” and some gold seed beads from my stash. The alphas are the Puffy Alphas from Freckled Fawn and the tiles from Websters Pages.

Layout number six is of me and my bestie and so is suitably girlie.

I started this layout off by adding some micro beads to some modelling paste and running that through a stencil. Its always best to choose your picture and have a rough idea of how big it will be before you add the stencilling otherwise you will end up covering it all up and having to do it again!!
I backed my picture with both sides of the “Sweetest Soiree” paper and added a strip of the “Elated” paper for an extra pop of red. There is also some more of that Gold Foam die-cut in there. The embellishments are from the Ephemera pack and the Chipboard sheet and I finished off with another on of the plastic bows.  I love these bows, they are so very yummy and I find that they finish a layout off nicely.

My final layout is a bit more paired back and simple.

To start the page I just sprinkled mist over the white cardstock in the areas that I knew that I wanted the clusters to be in. I then used all the little scraps of papers that were left over to create the layers behind the picture. The embellishments are from the Ephemera pack and Chipboard pieces again but I also added the “Hooray” bobby pin from the “Fine and Dandy” collection. The little hearts are again from the Pebbles Valentines collection. I finished the top cluster off with another one of those plastic bows.
