Feeling Warm and Cozy

Hi everyone welcome to my September blog post and welcome to meteorological autumn. This month my post definitely has an autumnal feel as I am using the beautiful Jen Hadfield Warm and Cozy collection from Pebbles.  The paper pad is out of stock, but the individual papers are available still.

Now you all know if you have been reading my blog posts for a while that I have a bit of a love for wood grain patterns and rich coloured papers and this collection certainly has them on offer. This collection although autumnal themed, works great for travel and even could work well for the Christmas pages. I apologies now for mentioning the word Christmas in September but it had to be done.

I have included a flick through of the papers in the collection with my first process video over on my YouTube channel which you can see here.

For the pages I want to share with you this month, I have focused on my travel albums that I have in process and these papers works really well. My Scotland travel album definitely works well with the patterns and images in this collection.

The first page I create however is for my USA album, and I have gone to one of my favourite page layouts, to include multiple photos.

In this collection it features a number of photo-realistic elements, especially within the cut-a-part sheets. I have struggled in the past to use elements like this but I love how it works on this page. This collection has 3 sheets of cut-a-part cards in an assortment of sizes and these are perfect for using as embellishments on your pages or in pocket pages and on cards.

Their is a lovely floral paper in this collection and I have fussy cut a number of these flowers out to use as embellishments. These floral also feature in the die cut pack with some foiling. I pulled in a couple of die cuts from an old crate paper collection to bring some travel elements in.

For my second page, I took influence from the cork board pattern on the paper and wanted to create a pin board effect with my photos.

The different elements were again pulled together using one of the cut-a-part cards as a title. I also used some of the beautiful embossed and foiled washi tape which come in this collection.

These foxes are not from this collection, these are old Jillibean Soup, but there is a fox in this collection, I just needed a couple so searched in my stash and found these substitutes. I like how it helps bring in a fun element to the page.

For my third page, this took a bit of planning, which is not my normal way of creating. I used my silhouette Cameo to cut the holes for the state outline and stitched this on a beautiful wood grain paper with a colour embroidery floss which matched the collection.

I kept my clustering pretty simple using more of the fussy cut flowers and some of the die cuts form the collection.

Whilst I was playing with my Cameo I had the idea to create a title page for my Scotland album. The album I will be using is a 9×12 format and although I normally do the title page last this collection seemed perfect.

I had the specialty die cut paper in the design of a wood slice, and is it stunning. I would just say as a small warning that this is a glossy cardstock, so it will not take mists particularly well. I decided to cut mine down so I could use it on 2 pages.

I cut out my title and them stitched around the design. I used some of the beautiful tartan from this collection as my background, which complimented the wood grain perfectly.

I decided as my Cameo was out I would do a few more cuts. I do tend to work in a batch cutting way so I strike whilst the iron was hot. I again on these last two pages are using the 9×12 format.

You will have heard me talk about the wonderful American Crafts textured wood grain cardstock, and I am going to use this as a consistent feature in this album. I used it to back this beautiful paper from the collection.

I used the different tartan papers from the collection to back the leaves die cut. I had the 6×6 paper pad also which meant I was able to use some of the patterns in a smaller format.

I am going to use the stag head as a design element through this album as I have in the past Scotland trip albums so the die cut in this collection was perfect.

For the finial page that I wanted to share with you this month, I used the other piece of the wood slice die cut paper. I again used the textured cardstock as my background.

IMG_8089

I layered the off cuts with one of my Cameo die cuts to make a simple background. I then used some further off cuts to back my photo.

I then picked out the poor fox that was passed by on the earlier page and decided to add it to this layout.

I kept the clusters simple, using some more of the washi and another die cut and sticker from the collection. The die cut also acted as my title.

Well that is the 6 pages that I have to share with you this month, and I hope you can see how the collection has papers that will work for a number of different types of pages. I really love this collection and I can see it becoming a staple part of my Scotland album.

I hope you have a wonderful September and I will see you all in October for official Autumn.
