My very first CT post……

Hello everyone, my name is Carrie and I am a thirty something scrapbook addict!! Now that the introductions are out of the way lets get onto the layouts that I have created for my August post. I am a bit of a magpie myself really – I love all sorts of everything and picked a real mix of papers for my CT package this month. aug4 The first layout I did used Fancy Pants Me-ology and  Simple Stories DIY Boutique lines. I used papers, ephemera and the toppers from Fancy Pants and paper and chipboard embellishments from Simple Stories.  I also added some older bits from my stash that I bought in the last Hey Little Magpie sale – I love adding older collections to new, the new bits refresh my stash and my creativity and I often look at old things in a completely new way when they are paired with something new. This first layout is a picture of one of my entries to the CT here – I wanted to scrap all about applying and getting on the team.  The colours in the photo are very bright – so I had a look through the papers and embellishments and picked the goodies to go on the layout.  I backed this page on white cardstock as I knew it was going to be nice and bright.  I love layers – so cut all my papers to size and then inked the edges. I added ink splatters to the background and then stuck the layers on, embellishing with the ephemera and chipboard pieces. I also added some lace from my stash and sequins and enamel dots.  This page was completed off with a gold doily from Studio Calico and gold words from Maggie Holmes. I also used a Heidi Swapp word “Believe” for the title. I finished the layout off by backing it onto black cardstock to make all the colours pop! 🙂   aug3 My second layout again used papers from Fancy Pants Me-ology line and Amy Tan Plus One. I fussy cut all the scalloped shapes from the FP paper and then inked and outlined the edges.  I also fussy cut some of the flowers from the Amy Tan paper to use as embellishments.  I love fussy cutting – you can really stretch a piece of paper that way and I find it really relaxing as well! The photo is backed onto some FP corrugated cardstock that comes in the Burlap and Bouquets collection pack and the FP Gold Foiled paper.  I got a good tip from a fellow CT member about the Gold Foil paper – be careful not to let any washi tape or sticky stuff touch it as it removes the gold from the paper.   I used the same ephemera and chipboard pieces and HS words as before. The layout is on a piece of Basic Grey Highline paper that I gesso’d and ink splattered. I added sequins again and some older Maggie Holmes gold words, enamel flowers and a satin bow too.  I made the title using the Dear Lizzie dies and FP Gold foil paper. August 1 My last layout mostly uses the Basic Grey Highline papers. I gesso’d the paper and inked it all over the middle, I then stamped it with Amy Tan Plus One stamps. I then used a mask to  I punched the edges of the papers, inked them and outlined them.  I also did some doodling around the edges to add a bit more texture to the layout.  I layered all the papers together and added a my photo.  I embellished again with the Fancy Pants ephemera and the Simple Stories chipboard and also added some of the Highline Ephemera to finish it off.
