Hello, it’s Jo here with my January Creative Team projects. This month I got to play with the Freckled Fawn ‘Shine’ embellishment kit, it’s full of gorgeous pieces and comes in a matching floral pouch.

The Shine kit has acetate florals, felt die-cut blooms, cork alphabet, washi tape, flairs, chipboard arrows and phrase stickers, glitter stars, wood veneers and stag paperclips. There’s other kits available in store too, they can be found here.

The first project I made using the kit was an opening page to my 2017 Project Life album. I paired the embellishments with a neutral background of this lovely paper by Maggie Holmes from her Gather collection called Thankful Heart. Everything on this spread is from the ‘Shine’ embellishment kit with the exception of the chipboard thickers, which are old ones from my stash.

Hooray for lots of repeated letters in the cork alphabet pack.

Love this chipboard sentiment from the kit, it couldn’t be more perfect for Project Life!

Each year I add our ages to the first and last pages on each Project Life album.
Project Life 2016 – Week 52.

As I write this blog post the first week of 2017 has not yet finished so I returned to my unfinished 2016 Project Life album and completed week 52 using the kit. Again I paired the embellishments with a neutral paper and again it’s from the Maggie Holmes collection Gather and is called So Sweet Paper. I stuck with Maggie Holmes and used some 3×4 insert cards from the Project Life Open Book Core Kit (It’s currently on sale at £19.99). The tag on the header card is actually a 3×4 insert card which I cut the printed tag from and the chipboard numbers are old ones from my stash.

I used several of the chipboard arrows from the kit and a couple of cork arrows from this pack by Freckled Fawn.
Cards.

I love this chipboard sentiment. January is often a month where we examine ourselves and are often quite hard on ourselves. This is a perfect reminder for us (as a wall decoration rather than on a card) or for a friend who needs a lift. I added a couple of strips of the washi tape from the kit and some more cork letters, sticking them on top of a piece of paper from the Fancy Pants Designs ‘Joy Parade’ 6×6 Paper Pad.

This card is another inspiration card, with the great chipboard sentiment sticker and wood veneer from the kit encouraging you to follow your dreams. I added a felt die-cut from the kit and picked out matching cardstock for the base of the card. I was flicking through newish papers and found this lovely colourful paper of giraffes which I thought went well with the ‘dream big’ idea. It’s from the Amy Tangerine collection Oh Happy Life and is called Hello Sunshine.
Flower Garland

I thought of a great way to use those fabulous felt flowers, I sewed them together with embroidery thread to make a garland!

For my final project I used one of the wood veneer banners, a stag paperclip, chipboard phrase arrow, glitter stars, cork letters and a flair from the Shine kit and scrapped a Christmas story. I mixed them with a text paper from Simple Stories Classic Christmas collection ‘Tis the Season’ and washi tape from the same collection, plus some woodgrain paper from the Fancy Pants Designs Golden Days collection called ‘Forever with you’.
I still have lots left in the kit to use!
Go have a look at the other kits by Freckled Fawn which are released monthly;
