Hi Magpies, Julie back with you today & this month I’ve chose to use a lovely summery collection from Simple Stories called ‘Sunshine & Happiness’. It’s a great collection full of bright colours & icons like the sun, florals & ice creams, great for all those sunny days ahead….hopefully. For my first layout ‘Hot Summers Day’ I cut the Shine Bright Paper in half, diagonally, across the page & stitched it to echo the suns rays & added it to a piece of white cardstock which I’d inked with yellow, pink & orange. I cut out my title on my silhouette & backed it using the many patterned papers from the 6×6 Paper Pad. I added that across the join in the papers & added 2 photos, on paper mats, on the top & bottom of this. I then just went mad with the many embellishments in this collection, word stickers, clouds, the sun, sunglasses & that oh so cute bathing suit, a bit of stitching & a few splatters of gold mist where all that was needed to finish it off.
My second layout ‘But first let’s take a selfie’ I chose to use a cut file to showcase all the lovely colours & patterns in this collection. I backed the cut file with papers from the 6×6 paper pad & sewed it to the lemon stripe paper. I backed my photo with layers of paper, tissue paper & some black cardstock to make it pop. Then I just added a few word stickers, a couple of exclusive Hey Little Magpie flair badges & some enamel hearts.
My last layout ‘ There are so many beautiful reasons to be happy’ is a bit softer than the other two & mainly because of this paper, the 6×12 element sheet, it just caught my attention, with that quote, & so I decided to make that my focus. I cut apart the quote & used a border punch on the edge of each piece & then sewed the pieces back together adding white cardstock, which I’d embossed. I added word stamps, to each section, in the colour of the paper, a photo & ephemera, also in matching colours & then stuck the bits out the border punch back onto the white sections.
Thanks for joining me today & hopefully my pages will bring a touch of summer even if there’s none outside, until next time xoxo
