Glittery thickers…

I’ve re-found my love of glittery thickers!
With so much choice these days for alphas for your layouts, from manufacturers stickers to specialist die-cuuting machines, I for one have been less inclined to reach for my thickers stash and use them for titles on my layouts. In turn, I seem to design each layout overlooking that all important space for my title. So when I saw these new American Crafts ‘Story” glitter foam phrases in the Hey Little Magpie shop, I just knew I had to have them.
And even better , they are perfect to co-ordinate with the new Maggie Holmes ‘Open Book‘ by Crate Paper. If you love Maggie Holmes’ collections as much as I do, then I beg to challenge you to find a collection you’ll love more than ‘Open Book‘. I didn’t think it possible after her stunning collections last year, but ‘Open Book‘ is like spreading butter on hot toast – each layout is so easy to create and the elements effortlessly cluster and interact with each other.

‘Details captured’ focuses on the ephemera pack, along with a doily also from the ‘Open Book’ range. The base of the layout uses the stripy side of the ‘Years‘ paper and because I’ve only framed the base white card stock with it. I’ve gutted a central section of the floral side to use on another layout.

The background effect was created with embossing powders – the embossing ink was used through a mask and then an assortment of watercolours was used – where the embossing powders are creates a resist. The final element was the glittery thicker phrase!

‘Memories’ uses the ‘Slideshow‘ paper, which I thought was stunning, but perhaps a bit scary to use (do you know where I’m coming from?).

I cut the paper into two and moved the top section to the base, which in turn became a ‘garden’ for the floral ephemera which I clustered across the join.

I created clouds and the sky with gesso and watercolours. The gold glittery thickers title picked up on the other elements on the layout which also featured hints of gold, including some rub-ons and the floral ephemera.

‘Hello’ uses the gorgeous gold printed velum for its base.

To add colour to the layouts base, I used gelatos and watercolours both under and onto the velum in colours that toned with the elements from both the ephemera and floral ephemera packs.

And of course, the layout wouldn’t have been complete without another lush glittery thicker!
