Hello Sunshine with Fancy Pants Designs
With schools out for summer and August just around the corner, I’m in the mood for scrapping with a summery theme, even if it’s drizzly and dreary outside right now. The ‘Hello Sunshine’ line from Fancy Pants has tropical leaves and flowers alongside flamingos, cacti and pineapples. Everything you need to capture that sunny feeling. Colours of pink, turquoise, yellow and green with some black and white thrown in are bright and cheery.
The first thing that jumped out at me was the flamingoes. I love flamingoes. I paired this photo of my daughter’s birthday cake from last year with the 6×6″ paper pad. I created a quilt-like effect from the small scale patterned papers by cutting triangles, and added several die cuts – I loved the leaves in the pack, which come in two different styles and some have added gold foil detail.
I always like to give myself little challenges when creating a set of pages from one lot of supplies, and in the case of this collection I wondered what I could create without using loads of pink of my layout. I really enjoyed making this page, and in the end I made it with no pink at all, which wasn’t actually the original intention! I did add in a few extra supplies from Cocoa Vanilla Studio You Rock and Totally Rad, and Crate Paper Cool Kid. My son is wearing a t-shirt with a pineapple design in these photos, so I ran with that and added some pineapples from the collection, including two of the gorgeous chunky paperclips.
Finally I used a photo that epitomises summer – my daughter covered in sand at the beach! You can’t get much more summery than that. I wanted to make the most of the gorgeous tags and die cuts, so I created a grid style layout by laying them all out on the page. There was a fair amount of shuffling around to get the patterns and shapes spread out to my satisfaction! I attached a few on foam squares to give extra dimension, and used the twine from the tags pack to create a border around my layout.

Cross your fingers for a bit more summery weather whilst the children are off school for the holidays, otherwise I’m going to run out of summery photos for next year’s summer collections! (Though there will always be flamingoes)
