Homemade Kit Fun

Hi Magpies, Hope you’re enjoying some of this lovely sunny weather but still finding a bit of time to craft?

This month I decided to put a bit of a kit together & went with the collections from Crate Paper, Sunny Days, Heidi Swapp, Color Fresh & Dear Lizzy, It’s all good. the colours seems to go well together & I really enjoyed creating with the kit.

My first layout I used some of the acrylic paint, from the Sunny Days collection & added 3 strips in each of the sugary colours across my page. I cut out some circles, added some thread & attached them to my page in the matching colours. I then added embellishments, keeping to the same colours from the chipboard sheet, clear sticker book & a few Dear Lizzy accent & phrase cardstock stickers.

I finished the layout with a few lines of stitching, in the same colours as the paint & added a stitched border all around the edge.

For my second layout I wanted to use this stencil I had, so I added texture paste, through the stencil, to some Vicki Boutin Foundation paper & then inked it with oxide inks in pink, orange & yellow colours, allowing the inks to drip down the stencil, following her hair. I love the effect it gave.

As the image was so large on the page I really didn’t need to add much more. I tucked my photo in, next to the stencilling & added lots of ephemera around it in the same colours I’d used on the image.

As the image wasn’t quite the full 12 inches it looked a bit funny so I cut the card & backed it on 2 sides with some coloured cardstock & added a bit of hand stitching.

I hope you have enjoyed my take on using this kit & I’ll be back later in the month with 2 more layouts using it

until next time, happy scrapping
