Hooray! By Crate Paper | Niki Rowland

Hi Magpies, Niki here today sharing two layouts using the Crate Paper ‘Hooray’ collection. Hooray is a birthday themed layout but I have make layouts about having afternoon tea and there were no birthdays in sight.

Sometimes it’s easy to overlook a themed collection if it isn’t specifically what you are looking for at that time, but there are usually lots of things that can be used for layouts that aren’t for that particular theme. For example in this collection, there are lots of cakes. We ate a lot of cake on the day we went for afternoon tea, so this worked well for me. There are also cameras, llamas, crocodiles and party hats which could be used for almost anything.

I didn’t have the whole collection but I did have most of the 12×12 papers, the Icon & Phrase Thickers, the Ephemera and the chipboard stickers.

For my first layout I have cut a large cupcake and backfilled it with Hooray papers. I’ve used four photos (out of my comfort zone!) and embellished in small clusters. I love that the chipboard has some sequins on it, as well as glitter!

I added a large title. I’m on a bit of a mission to get my stash of Thickers used at the moment so have gone back to some Paige Evans ones from an older collection. I love these multi-print style Thickers as they make for a really eye-catching title and I also used the word ‘cake’ from the Hooray icons & phrase Thickers as part of my title.

For my second layout I cut three frames from the papers (a cut file by Paige Evans) and added my three photos to them. The large frame was too big for my photo but I didn’t worry too much and managed to use it anyway by backing it with more Hooray paper.

I added clusters of embellishmemts from the ephemera and chipboard and again added a multi title. I’ve used some old silver glittery Thickers (two different fonts!) and also those same Paige Evans multi Thickers too.

I love that the layouts have a party feel to them without any mention of birthdays – exactly the mood I was trying to capture.

I’ll be back later in the month with two more layouts using Crate Paper Hooray. Happy scrapping xxx
