Hooray for Websters Pages
Anyone who loves fussy cutting would have been as delighted as me to see that the new Websters Pages collections had arrived in the shop.
The Good Life, with its delicate botanical designs offered me the chance to get my fine scissors out and get cutting! And once I’d started, I couldn’t stop…
Equally as pretty as The Good Garden paper was the Lemon Squeeze paper, which was also crying out to be fussy cut into.
If you love embellishments but tend not to choose Websters Pages as they don’t have that many embellishments to choose from, their collections works extremely well with so many other ranges in the shop.
The rustic frames from Maggie Holmes Flourish collection were a perfect complement to the Websters Pages collection, as was the Jen Hadfield Gold Safety Pins and Dimensional Butterflies, both from her Patio Party collection.
After fussy cutting a selection of lemons and lemon blossom, I used some of the text packaging to form the basis of my layout.
The wooden frames are stunning and by placing directly over the photo, it draws your eye to the focal point of the image and everything else simply clusters around it.
The wirework is inspired by a workshop that I recently attended by Liz Cooksey. Wire is bent and then back filled with papers and fabric, in much the same way as we back fill cut files. It gives a totally different feel to a layout and whilst different to mixed media texture, allows me to incorporate mixed media into a layout, whilst still having control over the result – something I struggle with!
My second layout uses a Valentine paper from Pebbles as the base.
I fussy cut a selection of botanicals from The Good Garden paper to cluster around more of the Flourish frames.
The left hand frame is backed by a section of the Websters Pages Sketch Paper – it reminds me so much of the illustrations by AA Milne for Winnie the Pooh…
Both layouts use the chipboard phrases, from the Jen Hadfield Patio Party collection. Unlike other chipboard phrases, I found these to be the perfect size.
I’m so glad that Websters Pages is back, so much so that next month I might piuck their equally as lovely collection ‘My Happy Place’.
