Happy New Year Magpies, Sheena here again x
Welcome to a new year and new look to the Hey Little Magpie blog with new posts and inspiration almost daily, so visit us as often as you can.
For my posts this month I chose to create with Simple Stories Kissing Booth. To be honest I’m not too keen on the range name, Kissing Booth ! but I love the colours, patterns and embellishments so Kissing Booth it is.
For a valentines range there is plenty of black in this one & I loved the little random heart pattern on the Crazy for You paper so wanted to use it as my background but after shuffling things around for quite some time! I settles on a strip of cardstock and Hello Love paper to break up the pattern at the top of my page. I machine stitched the Simple Stories Crazy for You paper to hold everything together.
I enjoy a bit of fussy cutting and I took my scissors to the Smitten paper cutting flower clusters to add around my matted photo with die cuts, stickers and a sprinkling of enamel dots.
The title is a Hey Little Magpie flair and I added circular stickers to echo the shape around photo.
For my second layout I was totally inspired by a carved log sticker on the Kissing Booth stickers sheet but in the end didn’t actually use it on my page !! The photographs are of my parents as teenagers.
I have used watercolour / mixed media paper as my background so I could watercolour behind the log shape I cut on my Silhouette. When it was dry I machine sewed the log rings down using a varigated thread the lines are wobbly in places but I don’t mind that. I added the title stickers on foam pads & added their initials in the centre.
I tucked my 4×3 inch photos at the top of the log after matting them on patterned paper & tissue paper, topping them with a Kissing Booth chipboard banner. To soften the look I added die cut leaves around the photos and finished with some word stickers.
I look forward to sharing with you more layouts from the Simple Stories Kissing Booth range later this month.
Till next time x
