Life is Beautiful – Fancy Pants Design
Hello Magpies, Jackie here with my layouts this month using the lovely collection from Fancy Pants Designs – Life is Beautiful, I choose this collection as the as colours are lovely and fresh. All these papers are textured and great quality to work with. As they are textured they have a similar weight to cardstock.
For my first layout, ‘Butterfly’ I used the b-side of the Cactus Bloom paper, and lightly distressed the background using a mixture of blue and green inks. I then used a die-cut shape of butterflies which I colour-distressed with blue and black inks and machined stitched to the background paper.
I layered the photographs on a selection of papers from the 6×6 pad, adding a tag from the Fancy Pants Design – Life is Beautiful – Tag pack and a label from the Fancy Pants Design – Life is Beautiful – Ephemera pack . For the title I used the lovely Fancy Pants Design – Life is Beautiful – Chipboard Alphabets
To finish the pages off I added some butterfly wood veneer and butterfly stickers from my stash.
For my 2nd layout, ‘Such a Fun Day‘ I inked a sunburst design on the background paper and mounted the photograph on some papers from the 6×6 pad.
I then punched hexagon shapes from a selection of patterned papers from the 6×6 pad.
I machined stitched over the hexagons to add more texture and detail.
I used the Fancy Pants Design – Life is Beautiful – Chipboard Alphabets and a phase from the Fancy Pants Design – Life is Beautiful – Puffy Accent Stickers, adding a few Fancy Pants Design – Life is Beautiful – Puffy Dot Stickers, a badge and tag. The small alphabets are from Jillibean Soup Mini Alphabet Stickers
For my next layout, “ The Big Hoot’ I picked 3 6×4 photographs, and did a very quick layout, using pieces from the ephemera pack to embellish the page.
I cut the scalloped shapes that came in the pack in half, to use as and embellishment cluster point.
I also added one of the flair badges that came with the collection, and a few of the puffy dot stickers.
These two printed circles are from the tag pack.
For my final one this month ‘Silly Specs’, I used this paper as my background, as I added some distressed ink to the background in pink and yellow, and using scraps from the 6×6 pad I used loads of bits just to form a base which I struck together and added some stitched details before adding it to the background paper. To make this base stand out I inked the edges in brown ink.
I mounted both of the photographs using papers from the 6×6 pad, leaving a slight border. I then cut down the background paper down as I wanted to mount it on to the b-side of this paper, and stitched around the edge for added detail. I added details to be pages using the Puffy Sticker, Ephemera, Tag packs.
For the title I used the Chipboard Alphabets which I machined stitched into place.
I love to add enamel dots to my pages, and my fellow team member, Rachel recommended these, Nuvo Crystal Drops, which you can find here an alternative to enamel dots and a way to add extra dimension and detail to your layouts, well I had to give them a go, and they are lovely.
I did a few rows onto some greaseproof paper, let them dry, and added them to my page with a drop of wet glue. These have sold really well, and some of the colours are currently out of stock, but will be re-stocked shortly.
Here’s a closer look at the ‘crystal drops’
