Hello Magpies!

I’ve had the pleasure this month in working with one of the new-to-the-shop collections from Simple Stories. I always enjoy the ranges that come in from this company – full of bright colours and fun icons, with lots of coordinating embellishments like sticker packs and die cuts. As the mum of two boys I picked “Lil Dude” to create with, and oh my this line is full of wonderful bright colours and fun designs. It has everything from dinosaurs to robots to fidget spinners to rubics cubes to frogs to dogs to bears, and lots of gorgeous words and phrases. You can see the whole collection for yourself here:

I picked a couple of photos from our Disney trip that I felt matched the papers well, the orange/yellow in these particular photos being what I picked out. I tried to make the orange and black (like Pluto’s ears and nose!) stand out by choosing papers in those colours for my two main sheets, and then adding highlights of the other colours on top with punched paper shapes, stickers and die cuts. I like adding a variety of words and phrases to my layouts, and simple stories is great for that – I had loads to choose from!

I love the puffy stickers a lot! They’re tactile and vibrant and just super lovely to add to my pages. You get a lot of stickers in the pack too, which is great. The same goes for the sticker book – so many stickers in the pack! Words and tiles and icons and little journaling spots. So useful. They do these 4×6 sticker packs for all of their collections, and I almost always end up purchasing it because it’s too good value to resist!

This page was made using lots of the branding strips from the 12×12 papers, along with embellishments. I printed an instant photo from my youngest son’s birthday, just a cute snap of him looking adorable. I have other birthday pages in the pipeline to document all the details from his birthday, so this was a page just for fun really. I spritzed and dropped two colours of mist onto my background cardstock before laying the strips out in various heights across the horizontal. On top of this I layered up my photo and embellishments – again a combination of elements cut from cut apart paper sheets, die cuts, and various stickers from the collection.

There are plenty of really useable, bright basics in this collection, which will transfer well to any pages about any themes and not just boy layouts. I will definitely be doing more layouts with these products in the near future.

Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting!
