For the love of anchors

With the weather turning decidedly chillier and the countryside vistas beginning to look slightly autumnal I’m definitely enjoying prolonging summer through my scrapbooking. Ive been using Pink Paislee Solstice and Fancy Pants Nautical on my pages this month.
This first page takes me right back to the beach. It was a really windy day, but we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to let the children play in the sand at Weymouth beach. Amelia had never really been on a sandy beach before and she enjoyed exploring the new textures, mostly by trying to eat the sand!

I used several of the Fancy Pants brag cards on this page, along with a photo cut down to the same size. The “hello summer” card was my absolute favourite in the pack – such a fun design and perfect for adding a title to the page. I used several other word elements over the page too – the glittery letter stickers are such a beautiful shade of blue, and the Pink Paislee Solstice ephemera pack is full of really useable elements.

I wrapped some twine around the words on the card to draw attention to the centre of the page as my main title & clustered embellishments in several spots around the layout. Studio calico are one of my go-to companies for embellishments right now – I used their wood veneer hearts, cork hearts and gold flag paperclips on this page. I find twine can be quite tricky to adhere, but because I was happy to have a “rough” look to it I simply used a dot tape runner in a couple of short strips and tried not to worry too much about the positioning!

This second page focuses on the anchor and boat elements in the Nautical range. I’ve been wanting to scrap these pictures of my dad and my son from last year for ages – I’m glad I waited because these collections are perfect! I make it a point not to always stick to the “theme” of a collection, and I would happily use anchors on a non boat or sea themed page, but the match seemed too good to ignore this time! The Fancy Pants flair badges are gorgeous – really chunky and lovely deisgns – I used the anchor one here, and used one each on my two other pages. I also used one of the Hey Little Magpie exclusive flair badges – these are finding their way onto most of my pages at the moment – I love that Sarah and Lianne are offering them for sale individually, so you can pick and choose the ones you love the most. Or make it simple and just get one of each!

I love these puffy stickers from Me and my big ideas – the perfect bit of dimesion and texture. I layered up some brag cards, ephemera, stickers and embellishments under my two landscape photos. Gold has been a big trend in scrapbooking lately and, whilst I’ll admit I may have been dubious to begin with (I’ve always been a silver jewellery girl!), I love it now! The Solstice range has some amazing gold elements in it – the foam shapes are particularly lovely.

Amelia’s first swim is the focus of this third page. We are lucky enough to have a private pool nearby which is available for hire, and we’ve had it for both Benjamin’s and Amelia’s first swim. It’s so nice to have the privacy of course, but the scrapbooker in me was jumping up and down at the opportunity to take photos! This one that my husband snapped of me and my two kiddies is one of my favourites.
I punched circles from several patterned papers and adhered lines of them to a 4×6″ piece of card, trimming the side edges square. I then added this to the page as I would a block of patterned paper – meaning I could easily move it around and rearrange the elements until I was happy with their position. I used yet another brag card from the Fancy Pants pack for my journalling – these cards are one-sided so there’s no dilemmas over choosing your favourite side which I found refreshing!

I love these chalkboard stickers from American Crafts DIY Shop – such a vivid black and perfect as a base for a title. I just love the blue glitter letters on the black – perfect! There’s another one of the Hey Little Magpie flair badges too – I could use this design so many times over.

So that’s it from me this month, thanks for swinging by!
