Love changes everything…

Of all of our emotions, love is by far the greatest emotion and ultimately changes everything! Be it the love of a partner, a child, a pet or indeed a hobby such as scrapbooking, the passion deep within from the loving of someone or something and we are smitten!
‘Head over heels’, ‘Truly, Madly, Deeply’ and ‘You give me butterflies’ are to name but a few phrases that simply sum up the emotions of love. And whilst ‘Hello Love’ could be more thought of as an endearing greeting, I have to say I think its the perfect name for the new Valentine’s themed collection by Crate.
Why? Because this new collection ‘Hello Love’ simply isn’t yet another Valentine’s themed range – it’s so, so much more. Don’t get me wrong, if you think that the word Love or Valentine isn’t going to appear anywhere, it does. But the colour palette, which along with pinks and reds features bursts of teals and aquas and the use of non heart themed icons, makes it ideal for any scrapbooker who is less ‘loved-up’ than mushy old me!
‘Together’ is my first layout this month.

After using gesso on the white cardstock, I used a combination of Heidi Swapp Raspberry, Blush, Coral and Tinsel colour shine mists and my gelatos to create the peachy toned background.
I then cut a heart shape template and used this as a guide to cut an outline heart shape from one of the 6 x 6″ papers. Once I’d decided on the overall floral panel of paper and the striped edge detail, also from the 6 x 6″ pad, I then used my sewing machine to ‘doodle’ the heart shape.

How cute are the layered tags? I found this beautiful little heart, with the kisses sentiment in them and layered it over one of the tags from the ephemera pack.

I love routing through the ephemera packs and seeing all the pre-cut shapes – I’m certainly not adverse to cutting, in fact I used to be known for my fussy cutting!

I added a title from my stash – it’s a Dear Lizzy foam phrases pack, but felt that the solid black looked a bit too much so I used white acrylic, applied with my finger to give a softer milky finish.
‘Pure joy’ is my other layout this month.

I used the Hello Love ‘Blush’ paper as the base for my layout, then added gesso and some watered down Heidi Swapp Raspberry Colour Shine mist to create the billowing clouds effect.
Having not long returned from a trip to New York, where I did succumb to a few craft supplies, I felt the urge to use the butterfly punch that I bought! I’m not normally one for many gadgets, but decided that I’d probably use a butterfly punch more than some other shapes. I cut a series of them from the 6 x 6″ Hello Love pad, and also reached for a couple of papers from the Maggie Holmes Shine 6 x 6″ pad too!

The title was cut on my silhouette and further embellished with more ephemera, punched butterflies and stickers from the 6 x 12″ sticker sheet.
