Making Merry with Crate Papers Merry Days
Hi Magpies, Julie back with you again today sharing 3 christmas layouts using the lovely new collection ‘Merry Days’ from Crate Paper. I love all things by Crate & this collection was no exception.
For my first layout ‘Lapland Fun’ I pieced 2 papers together, for the background, & then added a small bit of mixed media to it using the packaging technique, splatters & a bit of texture paste. I put my 3 photos & embellishments in a vertical line down the middle of the page, tucking it all in around the photos, spreading it out a bit in the middle. My title comes from the thickers in this collection & an acrylic word from Freckled Fawn, don’t think this one is still available but check out the others, there’s plenty to choose from.
For my second layout ‘All the twinkling Lights’ I had this idea of hanging baubles off a twig, like they are hanging on the tree. My photos are of Christmas decorations I’ve crossed stitched for my girls depicting their first Christmases. I again added a small bit of mixed media to the page, only where I was going to put the twig & proceeded to tie & hang my ‘baubles’ from the twig, wrapping the twine around it. I knew glue would not hold the twig in place so I sewed it onto the page. 2 messy lines of stitching finished off the page.
For my final page I choose to go with a sketch, I love how if you don’t have any ideas that they kick start your creativity, this is the sketch I used & I more or less followed it.
I added a bit of ink, through a stencil, on the background & then made the 2 clusters, top & bottom, with distressed paper strips, embellishments, twine, ribbon, buttons & machine sewing.
I hope this post inspires you to start scrapping with the lovely Christmas collections that are in the shop, until next time xx
