My Mind's Eye – Jubilee – Tangerine
I love the way My Mind’s Eye put their collections together . It makes scrapbooking effortless and yet still allows room for creative interpretation.
The Jubilee – Tangerine range had just enough orange to conjure up images of Autumn pumpkins to me so it seemed apt for October’s Blog post. It’s amazing how far one mixed bag of die-cuts and a 6″ x 6″ pad will stretch. Add to this a pack of their 3″ x 4″ journal cards and some transparent frame photo overlays and you’ve got enough to produce a huge variety of layouts , all of which could look completely different . These were the basics I used for all of the layouts below.
This range is also easily used alongside complimentary ranges such as Fancy Pants’ True Friend – which has a similar colour plate -always a bonus. I couldn’t resist a sheet of ‘Inseparable’ from this range as I’m always drawn to triangles and it was perfect as an aperture for the photo in my layout .
It was then just a case of layering up all the lovely die-cuts – loads to choose from and still heaps left . Using foam dots to vary the levels helps to give it some dimension.
The 3″ x 4″ pack of journal cards includes some lovely white cut out frames which are easy to ink up to co-ordinate with your layout . I used the heart frame and coloured it with some turquoise and brown inks , smudged around around the edges, then added a white rub on word ‘ Life’ .

On to my next layout which is from the same range – this time using a sheet in the same range called ‘Awesome – Shield ‘ .
I used the bold zig zag side – I just LOVE BIG and BOLD patterns . I’ve kept the content pretty simple as the paper does the talking and I tried the various elements on the skew but they were competing too much with the zig zags so I kept them straight in the end. If you’d told me I’d be using yellow patterned paper a year ago I wouldn’t have believed you but it’s my new favourite shade – how fickle am I ?! You might think that mixing stripes , polka dots, chevrons and patterns is daft but because they’re all the same colour I think it works.
And what about that die from My Favourite Things – You Mean the World To Me one of my all time favourites !
There’s one of the transparent frames underneath the photo which I cut through to insert the photo into the heart with the tail end of the arrow overlapping onto the globe. A few stitched triangles ( there I go again with the triangle thing ! ) over to the left, to draw the eye in, completes the look.

These next few photos show how easy it is to use a cluster of the 3″ x 4″ journal cards for the easiest layout ever if you’re short of time. I’m not a Project Lifer but I do love the cards and they’re are so versatile in layouts that I can never resist buying them as they’re always a bargain and can give you so many different looks. These are just a small selection of what’s included in the pack .
I’ve started with 4 cards and laid them out in a cluster on a piece of blackcard stock. I usually rotate my page a quarter turn to see which orientation looks best.
My photo makes up the 5th element in the group, mounted on a mother journal card, as I like to work with uneven numbers – in threes , fives or sevens .
Then you can just start tucking in die-cuts and other elements from whatever scraps you have to hand. The 3″ x 3″ die cut frames – this pack from My Mind’s Eye – Jubilee – Tangerine also contains 6 of these in plain white plain white which you can colour or alter however you like, work well added in to the mix. You can add any amount of other detail if you’ve got the time plus a title ( or you can let the words on the journal cards do the talking ) but for a quick and easy project when you’re short of time , this works every time for me .
