More Color Kalidescope

Hi Magpies, Julie back again today sharing 2 more layouts made with the great collection Color Kaleidoscope from Vicki Boutin.

Dream On

I was lucky enough to be gifted some of the Mixed Media backgrounds paper by my fellow DT member Jackie & chose this one, with the pink, yellow & coral inks on & decided to add to that with some texture paste, through a stencil & some of the watercolor markers in Coral Macaroon, Orange Slice, Sugared Strawberry, Cotton Candy & Crushed Pineapple, allowing the colours to run & drip down the paper & adding more splatters.

I then had the idea to make it loosely into a dream catcher so drew a semi circle, up the top, which I sewed around several times with different coloured threads & then attached black threads across the circle, in a random way. I coloured some ribbon & gauze, in the same colours I was using & sewed those down from the circle, to add some texture. I inked up a piece of watercolour paper & cut out 2 feathers to add on top of it all.

I made a paper matt for my photo & tucked in a few bits of ephemera & added that inside the circle.

I did a small bit of stamping, around the page, which serves as my title.

Say Cheese

My inspiration for my second layout come from one of the papers in the collection, Odds and Ends paper. I just loved all the jumble of patterns together & decided to make a page like it.

I first added a small bit of mixed media to a piece of Vicki Boutin Foundations Paper, using acrylic paint & an old credit card & some oxide ink through a circle stencil. I then cut lots of strips of papers, distressing all the edges & added those top & bottom of my page, sewing them into place. I did a bit of die cutting & punching & added those along with some fabric trim, to the strips, to add some texture.

I added my photos to a film reel die cut, that I inked, to make them stand out against the busy background. The title comes from the ephemera pack & the little bird is just because I love birds & he’s cute, LOL!!

Thanks for joining me today & listening to my ramblings. I have loved using this collection & have plenty more to use although I know Vicki Boutin has a new collection out & I, for one, can’t wait to get my mitts on that!!!

See you soon,
