More from our guest designer Claire Murphy

I love how happy, bright and cheerful the Simple Stories collections are. I couldn’t wait to use the new Oh Happy Day collection to document a recent scrapbook retreat with my girl friends.

I used a 4×4 album to create a mini album for this event. The pocket page inserts are great to be able to include the little 2×2 inch cut aparts from the collection.

I added in some extra inserts outside of the pockets too to give the album some tactile elements.

The stickers from the 6×8 sticker sheets were great to be able to add to the outside of the pockets too and I used the “awesome” word on the outside of pocket (and I even added in some sequins from my stash to create a shaker pocket).

I just love how a collection makes a mini album come together and this collection is fabulous to use for any event or celebration.

For my 2nd project with the Oh Happy Day collection by Simple Stories I decided to use some 2×2 inch photos for this layout.

I had this idea that I wanted a wavy line of stars going up my page so I used a star stencil and some black texture paste to do this. I also used a smaller star stencil by Echo Park from the I Love Crafting Collection (this has now become my favourite stencil!).

I matted my photos onto the pink paper from the same collection and stuck the left photo straight onto the white cardstock. I added a single layer of foam onto the middle photo and placed this at an angle and the third photo I added 2 layers of foam and again placed this as at an angle too.

I then used the wild and free sticker from the 12×12 sticker sheet and stuck this straight onto the same pink paper that I had matted my photos with. I then fussy cut around the sticker and popped this up on foam and added this into the star section. This then served as my title.

I added another cluster into the bottom of the stars and added in some chipboard, stickers from the 4×6 sticker book and also some pieces of ephemera from the die cut pack.

I decided I wanted some more colour throughout the black stars and so added the small heart stickers from the 4×6 sticker sheets and this helps to love the colour around the page and really broke up the solid black area. I added in a couple of flourishes by using some small wood veneer stars from my stash and also some splatters of ink in black and gold.

I’m pleased with how this layout looks and is exactly how I imagined it. I hope this has brought you some inspiration also.

Thank you Claire for sharing your lovely layouts and mini-album with us. We’ve loved seeing some fresh inspiration here on the blog and appreciate the time you’ve taken to create for us.
