More Happiness – Cocoa Vanilla Studio

Hello Magpies, today I’m back with three more layouts featuring the gorgeous Happiness collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio. It is such a bright and colourful collection, that I thought it would be perfect for all those summer photos.

Hello Summer

When I first saw this collection, I absolutely loved the Good Vibes rainbow paper.  So, I decided to use it for my first layout. I wanted to include the full pattern, however it was a bit too busy to use as a full background. Therefore I cut the paper in half and trimmed a little off each end, to allow for a narrow white border when placing it at the bottom of my page. I wanted to keep the majority of the paper visible so I built the rest of the layout on the top half of the page.

I layered up three papers from the 6 x 8 Paper Pad behind my photo. Keeping the patterns very simple as not to over power the layout. Also adding a strip cut from each of the Bright & Beautiful and Botanical Bliss papers.

I kept the embellishment very simple on this layout as well. Using a combination of the die cuts and stickers, in three areas of the page. Also adding a Flair Button.

I finished the page by adding my title with one of the words from the pack of Die Cut Titles and some older Thickers. I didn’t feel like this page needed much journaling, therefore I just added where and when the photo was taken.

Happy Summer Days

I’m not usually much of a floral person, however I loved the watercolour flowers and leaves in the Die Cut Ephemera pack and wanted to make sure that I used them. Therefore, my second layout grew with that in mind. I started with a plain white cardstock background and three 3 x 4 photos, which I matted onto white card to create a photo strip.

The photo strip needed something behind it to make it stand out from the background. So, I matted it again onto a piece of the B side of the Bright & Beautiful paper. I finished the mat off by adding a small strip of the B side of the Botanical Bliss paper to the bottom.

Once I had finished my photo mat and positioned it on the page. I felt that the layout needed a contrasting colour. So, I cut a 4 inch wide piece of the B side of the Meadow paper. Placing it vertically behind the photos.

I then moved on to building up the embellishments and decided the flowers would work well with my photos.  The Die Cut Ephemera pack, includes a circular frame, which I cut in half so that I could include a section on opposite corners of the photo strip to form a base for the embellishments. From there I used a number of the flowers and leaves to build up a frame and my photos. Adding a flair button to the bottom cluster.

I created my title using some of the words from the Die Cut Titles pack and some older Thickers. Finishing off the page by adding my journaling, above and below the photos and finally three die cut butterflies.

Sun, Sea & Ice Cream

My third layout is a standard size traveler’s notebook spread. Which features three 3 x 2 photos from a trip to the coast.

I started the layout by taking a whole piece of the Little Things design from the 6 x 8 Paper Pad and adhered it to the right side of the spread. Trimming off the excess and adhering this to the left side, making sure to line up the pattern correctly. Next I cut a strip of the woodgrain effect design from the Bright & Beautiful paper. I added this to my background, so that it left a thin white border around the page.

I matted my photos onto white card, to make them stand out. Positioning them vertically along the join of the two paper designs. I felt I needed to bring the woodgrain over to the right side of the spread. Therefore, I cut out a banner and positioned it in the top right corner. This then provided the perfect area for my main embellishment cluster.

I moved onto the title next, choosing to use some white Thickers. I placed each word onto some waxed paper first, so that I could move them around. This meant I could try them in different areas of the page, to see where they worked best. Once I had decided on a position, I added them to the page.

Then I moved onto my embellishment. I chose to have one main area and two smaller areas, creating a visual triangle across the photos. The bigger cluster is made up of a label cut from the Little Things cut apart sheet. As well as a label and heart from the Die Cut Ephemera pack. I added another die cut heart above the title to create the second area. Then added a tab, the same colour as the label, tucking it under the top photo to create the third. I added some word stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet and finished each area off with an asterisk from the thicker sheet.

To complete the page I added my journaling above the title and the date to the woodgrain banner. I also added the location with some tile alphabet stickers, to the bottom right of the page.

Happiness is the first collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio that I have worked with and I have loved using it. There is a brilliant selection of papers and really usable embellishments, which you can find here. I’m definitely looking forward to using more of their collections in the future.
