Oh Joy
… yes that’s what I said when I heard that Pinkfresh Studio had released their new Christmas collection , co-incidentally called OH JOY !
It’s no secret that I love their designs so it seemed fitting that this would be my last post for the Hey Little Magpie design team – moving on to a new challenge in my life but not before I’d got stuck into this gorgeous collection.
The bold design on this paper only requires a single photo or a small group as I’ve used here.
The embellishments in this collection include puffy stickers, clear acetate die cuts, foiled words, washi strips and gold mirror stickers – spoilt for choice, in my favourite Christmas colours, white, black, turquoise and red. The stamp set is so sweet – lots of Christmas phrases and images which tie in with the papers. A smattering of red sequins and some foam dot mounted trees complete the scene.
The 12″ x 12″ Gold Transparency Sheet has a delightful selection of cut-aparts on high quality acetate and at £1.99 I think it’s very good value especially as most embellishment packs cost much more than that these days. This sheet has 9 elements – a mixture of 4″ x 3″ , ideal for Project Life and 6″ x 4″ . I always have a collection of frames just waiting for something to go inside and this one ( from M&S incidentally in case you want to make this ) had a 3D mount inside which lent itself to a shadow box effect.
All I had to do was slip the photo in the back then layer a 6″ x 4″ acetate on top then add a few thicker sticker elements to the bottom right and top left corners for balance – it also enabled me to anchor the actual acetate without having to resort to ugly glue which you might see – always a problem with acetates.
This would make a lovely Christmas gift .
I’m a Christmas cracker addict . When they start hitting the shelves in October I can usually be found stalking the shopping aisles peering at the contents on the back of the pack. Having acquired a lifetime’s supply of shoe horns , miniature playing cards and those ghastly wire egg cups ( does anyone actually use those ? ) I usually resort to tipping out the contents and using my own gifts – these are crackers for scrappers – they’re filled with little packages of stash !
This time I bought some plain white cracker die cut blanks online ( wish someone would produce a die for these – hint hint ) and embellished them with Oh Joy. They’re way too nice to pull apart – but hey !
Makes sure you use extra strong adhesive – the first set I made unravelled !
And finally , it wouldn’t be Christmas without an Advent Calendar . The Advent Love patterned paper is all ready to cut apart.
All I had to do was adhere the numbered pieces onto small kraft white envelopes and layer up with a selection of stamped images and embellishments then fill with chocolate coins.
The entire collection can be found here – grab yours now whilst it’s still available – you won’t be disappointed…
