On a journey with Crate paper

Hi Magpies , Julie back with you today, bringing you 3 layouts using a new line from crate paper called ‘Journey’. I have long been a big fan of crate paper and over the years have always been excited to see that they are bringing out a new collection and it was no exception when they released this one. It’s typical crate paper, muted, vintage colours with plenty of different patterns to choose from and an abundance of die cuts and stickers that go with the collection. As the name suggests it does have a ‘journey’ like vibe but as my second layout shows can be equally used for other subjects.
My first layout ‘Happy Camper’ is, as the name suggests, about camping. I myself don’t own a caravan but luckily my good friend Sue does and was happy to take some photos for me to use. I started out by gutting the free spirit paper, as I LOVE the feather side and layered it with the tribal paper, using the woodgrain side. I added a few splatters of Heidi swap colorshine spritz in bronzer over the page and started to layer some of the papers from the from the 6×6 paper pad behind the photos, tearing the bottom of them to give texture. To the right of the photos, I cut out happy campers and let’s go, from the let’s go out paper and stitched around them before adding them. I cut some clouds out of paper in the 6×6 pad and stitched a sun ray in the top left corner. I added some of the Ephermera die cuts and Accent stickers around the photo. I added some puffy stickers and cork shapes pointing to my title, which I cut on my Cameo and inked.

My second layout ‘going in your own direction’ shows how versatile this collection is and that it’s not just for travel projects. I started by cutting out a background on my cameo and filling in all of the arrows with different papers from the 6×6 paper pad. I then stitched that to a piece of craft and added it all to the Navigate paper, distressing all of the edges. I used a variety of papers under my photo, along with a tag and feather out of the Ephermera pack. I die cut the word ‘Awesome’, using the technique Tuesday metal die and added that to my photo cluster, to finish I added my title using stickers from the collection and some thickers from my stash and then added lots of arrows to emphasise the title.

For my final layout I choose to use the Gold foil chevron paper as my background. I again die cut the title, NYC, on my cameo. I paper pieced behind the letters with papers from the 6×6 pad and stitched around each letter adding them to the top of the page with the words ‘New York City’ overlapping them. My photo is off Instagram, but I figured as it was took by my friends son it was ok to use but I did ask permission!! I put my photo on the bottom right and added lots of die cut pieces around it that emphasised the subject and theme I really enjoyed doing this layout and I’m really excited as in two days’ time I’ll be experiencing it myself, can’t wait!
