Paige Evan's Horizon | Jo Boland

I’m back this month with the new Paige Evans collection ‘Horizon’ from Pink Paislee, and it’s another corker of a collection. You can see how much I loved Paige’s ‘Whimsical‘ collection back in January here and here. The Horizon collection is full of beautiful rainbow colours again, but this time with a nod to travel rather than arts and crafts.

I ordered the 12 x 12 Paper Pad, this isn’t something I usually do as I often prefer a lot of the plainer b-sides to the a-sides, (the 12×12 pad only has the a-sides of each of the papers). However, I was desperate to get my hands on the kaleidoscopic Paper #3 and it had already been snapped up. The 12×12 paper pad has two of each sheet so it was a no brainer to grab that instead. [Note – More stock is on the way, so if there’s an item you really want make sure you sign up for a notification when it comes back into stock].

Layout 1 ‘Let’s Seize the Day’

My first layout features that gorgeous Paper #3, which you can see I cut up into wedges and distressed the inner edges. I trimmed off about 1/4 inch around the outside of the whole sheet first to allow gaps between wedges when I reassembled them on the white cardstock background.

I glued the centre of each wedge back in position, then stitched around each one with white thread and my sewing machine and lifted the edges.

The photo is matted on a distressed piece of Paper #20, I’ve used the b-side as I have a thing for typed words, seriously a real favourite of mine. I’ve popped the whole photo mat up on foam pads for dimension.

Next I added my title using the chipboard thickers from the collection, however I decided that I didn’t want them getting lost on the brightly coloured papers so I popped these up on tiny foam pads too.

I added some puffy stickers around my page, purposefully putting the three green words stickers in the bottom green corner of the layout. I used a white pen to write my journaling on one of the wedges and finally splattered some gold ink from my stash on the layout.

Layout 2 ‘Time for a new family adventure’

My second layout focuses on some of the travel papers and pieces in the collection.

I used the planes paper (Paper #9) and backed it with the blue painterly paper (Paper #6), both from the 12×12 paper pad (I’ve gutted the middle from the blue paper so as not to waste it). I distressed the edges of the planes paper before adhering it to the blue paper. I fussy cut out some suitcases from Paper #17 (orange and light blue) and created a luggage cluster in the bottom right with two die-cut suitcases from the Die-cut Ephemera pack. The front two are popped up on foam pads and the back two just have the tops popped up on foam pads.

I’ve also cut some word strips from Paper #20 (as seen in layout 1), love the versatility of this paper. I’ve inked the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide in Broken China before mounting on foam pads. I’ve used one on the suitcase cluster and three on the top left.

In the main diagonal grouping I have used a title from the puffy sticker pack ‘Time for a new family adventure’. Again I didn’t want to lose the word ‘adventure’ against the multi-coloured background so I popped it up on foam pads (I cut my foam pads in half so they would be hidden on the back of the word).

The tag and the flag are from the die-cut ephemera pack as is the globe and the air mail stamp. The pink journaling tag has been cut from Paper #1 (from the pad) and I punched the top with a notepad punch from my stash. The hearts are from the puffy sticker pack and the little planes have been fussy cut from the leftover strips I’d trimmed off from the main paper. I applied Glossy Accents to these to replicate the shine of the puffy stickers and gloss on parts of the die-cut globe and suitcase.

I hope you’ve been inspired to take a closer look at the Horizon collection, it really is a lovely collection. Remember, we’ve got restocks coming soon, so sign up for notifications if there’s something you want but it’s currently out of stock.

See you on the 24th with more projects from this collection!
