Pink Paislee Birthday Bash

pink-paislee-birthday-bashHello Magpies!
It’s Nat here back with some new card ideas featuring a new collection from Pink Paislee: Birthday Bash!
This line definitely includes lots of fun accents and designs for documenting all the celebrations, but it’ll also help you build up a healthy stockpile of birthday cards ready to send out when the time comes.
I’m a particular fan of the dark background papers in this line like Paper #09 and Paper #08. They provide a great contrast for all the vibrant colours, and against the brighter backgrounds like Paper #07 and Paper #06.
I mainly used the 6×6 pad for my projects – but the above papers are real staples in this collection.
So, on with the projects!

The Die-Cut Ephemera Pack features some real stand-out accents, like this collection of presents.
pink-paislee-birthday-bash-wish-big-card-detailI simply used contrasting papers from the 6×6 pad for the background and added a little sentiment tag and bow to to the presents and hey presto, all that’s needed is a stamped greeting inside!
Speaking of bows, I don’t think you can have enough bows when using this line. I had a huge bow from a set of Crate Paper standouts in my embellishment box that has been waiting to be used for yonks. I finally found the perfect partner for it!

pink-paislee-birthday-bash-happy-birthday-balloon-card-detailI really liked the balloon accents in this line – so fun!

For this card I layered up the rainbow label and the greeting die cut also from the ephemera pack and stitched them together. For extra glam I layered up sequins and used one of the Delights Foiled Rosettes.

The ephemera pack features more die cuts that can be used as sentiments and which are great paired up with stamps.
For this 5×7 card I used the lovely 12×12 #07 candle paper for my background and the #09 confetti paper to cut my frame.
pink-paislee-birthday-bash-hip-hip-hooray-cardThe speech bubble greeting is stamped onto the sprinkles paper from the 6×6 pad.

But my big project with this collection was to make a really stand-out birthday card for my God daughter’s upcoming 4th birthday – lots of blingy accents required!
pink-paislee-birthday-bash-concertina-birthday-cardIt might not look like much at first… but when the string is untied it opens up to reveal…
pink-paislee-birthday-bash-concertina-birthday-card-inside…a big concertina card!
When tied shut the card is 3.5 inches wide and just over 7 inches tall.
The recipe for making this card:

  • 2 pieces of white cardstock cut to 10.5″ x 7″
  • 5 x Delights Foiled Rosettes
  • 5 x cards from the cut-apart sheet
  • A selection of 6×6 papers for the background
  • A strip of Paper #07 and Paper #09 for the triangle bits
  • Glitter paper
  • Thickers/large alpha and number stickers or dies
  • Length of string
  1. Using a pencil, mark off 2″ at the top of the so the bottom section measures 10.5 x 5 inches.
  2. Along the bottom 10.5″ edge, mark 3 panels measuring 3.5 inches wide – they should be 5 inches tall.
  3. For the triangles, along the top edge mark the middle of each panel at the 1.75″ mark and draw in the connecting diagonal lines. It should look like you have drawn 3 houses side by side. Cut along the diagonal pencil lines.
  4. Next you need to score down the 5″ lines to create your concertina and number the panels.
  5. Score and fold along the lines so that you end up with a hill then a valley – like this:concertina-card-base
  6. Next adhere the back of panel 3 to the front of panel 4 making sure they line up exactly.
  7. Then decorate the 3.5 x 5 inch areas with your choice of papers. I cut the pieces I used a little wider than 3.5 inches so that they would cover the folds properly without any white showing.
  8. I used strips of the 12×12 papers to cover the triangles.
  9. Then I added the cut apart cards to the panels.
  10. To decorate the triangles, I disassembled the Foiled Delights so I could use the gem centres for the tips of the triangles and the foiled circles as the background to the number and letters, with circles cut from glitter paper to cover where the gems had been.
  11. When finished you can write your greeting on the back, fold up the card, and tie it with string ready to be opened!
