Pinkfresh Studio – Just a Little Lovely – Part 2

Pinkfresh Studio – Just a Little Lovely – Part 2

Hello Magpies, I’m back for my second post sharing the Just a Little Lovely collection from Pinkfresh Studio.

I’m usually a photos first scrapper. However, as the papers in this collection consist of some big beautiful watercolour patterns, I found myself selecting the papers first and then choosing photos to match.

Christmas on the Shambles

I chose the B-side of the New Thoughts Paper as the background for my first layout. Trimming it and matting it onto a piece of black card to give it a thin black border.

I then selected two 3×4 photos of a trip to York, which had an orangey tone from the street lights. I decided to keep my photos fairly small as I wanted the background paper to remain visible. Matting them onto white and then black card.

Unusually for me, I didn’t add any more patterned paper to this layout. Choosing to move on to my embellishment, once I had positioned the photos in the bottom right corner. I started with my title as I knew I wanted to place it to the left of my photos. Building it up with both the Puffy Alphabet Stickers and the Mini Puffy Alphabet Stickers

I chose some die cuts and stickers from the Die Cut Ephemera Pack and the Puffy Stickers. Adding an area of embellishment above the title and one at the bottom right corner of the photos.

I felt the top of the page needed some extra detail. Therefore, I cut a banner out of black card, which I placed up against the black border. Adding three phrase stickers from the Cardstock Phrase Stickers. I finished off each cluster with a perspex asterisk, selecting colours to match the page, along with a silver enamel dot.

Finishing the layout by handwriting my journaling and stamping the date on a tab which I tucked in above the photos.

Hogwarts in the Snow

For my next layout, I started with the beautiful pink ombré pattern of the B-side of the Story Paper. I thought it would work perfectly with these pictures from the Harry Potter Studio Tour, as they have a pinky tone to them.

I again started my layout by trimming and matting my background paper onto black card. Selecting two 6×4 photos which I decided to position as a block on the left side of the page. I matted them together, giving them a black and white border.

I used an offcut of the Chitchat Paper, to layer horizontally under my photo. Giving me a base for my journaling and my title. I used both sizes of the Puffy Alphabet Stickers, placing them across the two patterned papers. The letter stickers in this collection are fab, they are really versatile and they seem to go a long way.

I wanted to add some interest vertically to the page, without adding a big block of paper. So I chose to punch some hexagons from the Highlight Paper. I also punched a slightly smaller one to place at the bottom corner of my journaling block. Adding a number of the Cardstock Phrase stickers, which are another one of my favourites from this collection, along with some wood veneer stars.

I stamped an arrow border, pointing to the title and another pointing to the photos. As well as a little heart on the smaller hexagon. To finish off the page, I added my journaling and the date.

Kynance Cove

For each of my other layouts using this collection I have started by using one of the patterned papers for my background. So for this one I wanted to try something more my usual style. This layout went through quite a few different configurations before I settled on this one. At one point it even had a black cardstock background, However, I decided I preferred it on the white.

I started off by picking the B-side of the Chitchat Paper to work with. I loved the shades of blue and green and it reminded me of the different shades of the sea. Because of this, I decided to use a photo from our summer holiday. Printing it at 6×4, I then matted it onto both black and white card as I did with my previous layouts. I like to mat my photos, as I find it helps them stand out, especially if they are being placed on a busy background.

I cut the Chitchat Paper in half, then trimmed it down and placed it to the right hand side of my page, leaving a thick white border. Next I cut a smaller piece from the same paper, which contained a different shade of blue to layer underneath my photo. I added a small piece of paper to the left of the photo, cut from the Highlight Paper. Making sure to use a piece with also contained green and blue.

Moving on to my embellishment I cut a banner strip from a scrap of the Hope Paper. Which I placed under the photo. This gave me a base for an embellishment cluster on either side. I built up my embellishment using pieces from the Puffy Phrase Stickers, Puffy Stickers and Die Cut Ephemera Pack. Adding my title under the photo with the same puffy letter stickers, also adding a little perspex geotag.

At this point my layout felt bottom heavy, so I decided to add another small area of embellishment to the top right. Cutting another small banner and adding a die cut and some puffy flower stickers. I finished this layout by adding my printed journaling strips above the photo.
