Round & round with Illustrated Faith!

Hey Magpies, welcome to February! This month I am using Illustrated Faith again, mainly the You Are Loved collection. I decided to focus on circles this month, to try and snap me out of my grid obsession and it worked! I felt my grid LO’s were getting very samey and boring but a grid is my go-to style so it was good to break the cycle and do something different.
I started on a pretty simple LO, just punching some circles from different papers and scattering them on the page under a photo. It’s a super simple LO to create and can work over and over again. I used papers from the You Are Loved 6×8″ Paper Pad and punched with different sized circle punches. I popped some of them up on foam pads to add dimension. I absolutely adore the Clay Rainbows from Freckled Fawn. They are so cool! Here I’ve used the Dark One but they are all so cool and a fabulous addition to a fun page. I created a tab at the top of the page using one of the Gift Tags which I cut down and then some of the Enamel Hearts. I’ve used some of the Die Cuts around the page, the XOXO in the title is from that pack and the ‘sunshine’ is from a pack of older Maggie Holmes puffy stickers. Across the bottom of the page I added a strip of Crate Paper, Cool Kid Buddy Paper because it’s one of my favourite papers ever!
Here’s how the page looked then…..

I was quite happy with that but then when I’d finished the second page (below), I put them side by side and decided this page looked a little dull beside it. So I got out my Nuvo Crystal Drops and used a few of them to dot around. I tried to make sure I stopped before I got too carried away lol! I liked the LO much better after the addition of some enamel dots. What do you think?

For my next page I had a really happy accident! I decided to use a dinner plate on a page and then spritz on some white mist. I was planning on using other colours too but the white worked so well, I didn’t need any others! My white mist wasn’t working very well and it was dropping massive blobs all over the place but eventually it started to mist properly. The accident happened when I went to pick the plate up, the mist on the plate had obviously run down the slope of the plate and pooled around the edges. You can see at the bottom of the LO, under the arrows there’s a big white blob, that’s where I put my finger under the plate to pick it up! I was so excited to see the white frame, it made me very happy! I think it’s a great effect, I love that white frame!
Around the inside of that white frame, I used Rhubarb Crumble Nuvo Crystal Drops to dot around. I created a little mat from some of the black & white papers in the Bella Blvd, Addison 6×8″ Paper Pad to go under my photo. The title uses old Amy Tangerine Thickers and the ‘amazing’ is from Fancy Pants, Joy Parade Shapes & Dots Puffy Stickers. I’ve also dotted around a few of my favourite MAMBI Puffy Stickers, Bright Multi Arrows, they’re still one of my absolute favourite products in the Hey Little Magpie store, they’re so cheap for what you get in the pack, everyone needs them in their stash!

Just a close up to see some of the details on this LO. If you look closely you’ll see my Nuvo Dots are not that even but when you’re looking at the overall effect, it never shows up so get dotting everyone!

In the You Are Loved Paper Pieces Die Cuts pack, some of the pieces have cut-outs in them. This piece below has crosses cut out of it and inspired me to get my punches out again.

Again, this is a pretty simple LO. I used a sheet of paper from the Addison 6×8″ Paper Pad under my photo. I started punching some different sized circles from white cardstock and then used whatever small punches that I have in my stash to punch out of those circles. I only had a small heart, star and arrow that worked for this LO so those were what I used! When I layered those circles on the LO they were a bit bland and boring. So I decided to spritz them with some mists to add some colour and that made them pop. I put them on foam pads to add some dimension and then on some of them, I added some Nuvo Crystal Drops and some little stickers. The clouds at the top of the LO are old ones from my stash and I painted them with Illustrated Faith Basics Series, Shanna’s Favourites Paints Set acrylic paints which I’m still in love with! I added some more Nuvo Crystal Drops above and below and my title is an old Thickers set and also some Freckled Fawn Pufy Alphabet which you can get here in white.

My last LO I went big with my circles! I cut a large one from the You Are Loved, Happy Heart paper and then some more from the Cute Kid, Buddy paper. I drew all the circles with a compass and cut them out. I layered a doiley under my photo and then dotted around a few more circles which I coloured with mists and Nuvo Crystal Drops. I splattered around some more mists. I used some flair as well, one from the Fancy Pants, Joy Parade pack and two exclusive HLM Flairs, the Geotag Icon and the Plane Icon. My title uses some old Thickers from Amy Tangerine and the new Shimelle, Go Now Go Departure Thickers.

So there’s my circle creations! I think it helped me break the grids I was so fond of. Being a graphic designer I think a grid is an easy fallback style for me but I wanted to get out of the grid vortex! I hope you all have a fantastic February and I will be back with you on March 1st with some new inspiration. Please also pop over to the Hey Little Magpie Chat & Inspiration FB Group and check out the latest challenge. I currently have one going to make a celebration creation and you can win 500 Magpie points when you upload your creation!
