Shine On by Amy Tangerine

Hi Magpies, Caroline back with you today. I have two 12 x 12 layouts to share this time using Shine On by Amy Tangerine for American Crafts. I chose this collection as I loved the colour palette, with it’s pinks, teals, oranges and hints of kraft. As well as the numerous embellishment options available to you.
I chose to work with the 12 x 12 paper pad, which includes two single sided papers of each of the A sides in the collection. The first thing I did was to cut up the Even Out, The Good Life and the More of This papers. This gave me some extra embellishments, journaling boxes and border strips to use on my pages.

It’s My Bed Now!

For my first layout, I started with a white cardstock background. I then cut a piece of the Surrounded By Love paper to around five inches high. Cutting a small amount off the length to allow for a border. I placed this at the bottom of the page to create the grounding for my layout. Layering smaller pieces of the Ambitious, Expand and Up papers with a border strip and a piece of kraft paper to create an area on the page for my photos and title. I chose to use two 3 x 4 photos on this layout. Matting them onto white card to make them stand out against the busy background papers.

I then started adding embellishments to the layout, tucking a large flower from the Die Cut Ephemera pack behind one of the photos. I selected two of the cut apart elements and placed these to the left of the photo to draw my embellishments across the page. Adding a little die cut rabbit on top of the orange heart, to reflect the subject of my photos.

I used Thickers for my title placing it under the photos on the kraft paper. However I felt it needed something underneath so that it didn’t look like the title was floating. I decided to include the heart border strip to ground the title. Cutting off a small piece to add above the photo with the date, to bring this pattern to another area of the page.

I added an odd number of puffy hearts to two areas of the page and a sticker to complete my embellishment. Finishing the layout by typing my journaling onto kraft paper, which I then cut into strips and positioned at the bottom of the page.

More Of This Please

My second layout started with the Happiness paper. Even though it is a black paper, the pattern reminded me of the suns rays. Therefore I thought it would be perfect for the background of a summer themed layout. I trimmed off the edges of the paper and placed it in the centre of a piece of white cardstock. Leaving a narrow border around the whole layout. I positioned the small circle in the top right hand corner, so that it looked like the sun was shining across the page.

Next I selected some of the border strips, from the Even Out paper. Picking out brighter patterns as I wanted to add some colour. I cut them down to different lengths and aligned them in a staggered pattern towards the bottom of the page. This provided a base for my photo and title. This time I chose to use just a single photo, which I matted on white card. Placing it on top of the border strips on the diagonal line that runs from the top right to the bottom left of the page.

I decided to use one of the pieces from the More of This paper for my title, which I placed to the right of the photo. This title card provided the base for my main embellishment cluster. I used a flower die cut, kraft banner and journaling spot from the die cut pack. Which I arranged around the bottom right of the title card, as well as fussy cutting out the camera to add to the cluster.

I then moved onto the smaller cluster, which I positioned to the top left of the photo. As I was looking to create another diagonal line to draw your eye across the page. Starting at the top left corner, past the photo to the journaling spot. I selected another die cut flower and the pink heart from the ephemera pack. Layering them with a couple of kraft banners and the summer sunshine stickers from the 8 Page Sticker Book.

I fussy cut out some little white flowers from the Blooms paper. Adding three to each of the embellishment clusters, as well as some of the puffy hearts to finish them off. I placed one heart in the top cluster on the kraft banner and three in the bottom, on the journaling spot. I added my journaling and the date to the page. Lastly I added a word sticker directly on the photo to finish off the layout.

Thank you for joining me today. I hope you enjoyed seeing what I have created with Shine On by Amy Tangerine. You can find the full collection here. I will be back later in the month, with more ideas for using these beautiful papers. Until then Happy Scrapping!
