Hey there! I’m back this month sharing projects made using the Simple Stories Valentine’s collection ‘Kissing Booth’. This collection is a lovely mix of pinks and reds, soft greens and woodgrain. Although it’s a valentines themed collection there’s certainly plenty of papers and embellishments which can used for general layouts.
Forever & Ever scrapbook layout
For this layout I used the ‘Smitten’ paper, a wide band of the b-side across the lower half of the layout, plus a piece behind the torn cardstock corner in the top left. I fussy cut a floral arrangement and some leaves from the a-side of the paper, mounting the floral arrangement on foam pads and tucked the leaves underneath. I secured the stems of the leaves with glue so that I could curl up the edges of the leaves. I raised the rose bud up on a foam pad and also did this with a couple of the leaves.
I cut the word strips from one of the cut out cards on the 4×6 Vertical Elements paper, popping them up on foam pads. I also used another card to the left of the photo for my title cluster. I used stickers from the 12×12 Combo Sticker Set, including the border sticker which I cut in two to make it stretch the whole width of the cardstock background, hiding the gap under the brown heart sticker.
This collection doesn’t have alphabet thickers, so I used the Paige Evans ‘Whimsical’ little rose gold foam thickers which go perfectly with the colour palette of this collection.
Love Is In The Air scrapbook layout
For this layout I used the Love & Adore paper for the wide band across the layout, adding two strips of the Hello Love paper tucked underneath the top and bottom edges. I then struggled a little with the busy floral paper so I got out my white gesso and spread some over the top to form an opaque layer where my photo mat was going to go. The photo mat is made up from another of the 4×6 Vertical Elements cut out cards ‘Love is in the air’, a card cut from the 4×6 Horizontal Elements paper. The piece of dotty paper is cut out from the Kissing Booth card and the journaling label is cut from the plaid card, both of which are from the 4×6 Vertical Elements paper, see below. I added a piece of vellum (tracing paper) under my photo mat too.
The two hearts to the left of the photo are from the Bits & Pieces Die Cut pack and the one to the right is from the 6×12 Chipboard Stickers. The ‘love’ circle on the bottom right of the layout is from the 12×12 Combo Sticker sheet and the tab and two little hearts are from the 4×6 Sticker Set. I’ve used Bazzill Basics white cardstock in both layouts as it has a slightly creamier colour compared to the American Crafts white cardstock which is a brighter white.
Valentine’s Day cards
Of course this collection is perfect for making Valentine’s Day cards. If you already have the collection or it’s on the way to you and you plan to make some cards, here’s a couple of simple ones made using the 4×6 Horizontal Elements paper.
I tore the top and bottom edges of the ‘Sealed with a kiss’ cut out card and matted it on the red ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’ card. You could of course use red cardstock if you wanted to keep the other cut out card. As you can see in the above photo the hearts have a glossy shine to them, that’s because I added a layer of Glossy Accents to them to give them a little dimension. Finally I added a chipboard envelope and the card was done.
For the second card I used Glossy Accents on top of the letters and the flowers, but not the leaves. The subtle effect this gives to the floral arrangement is gorgeous, it looks as if it’s embossed. I trimmed down the ‘love’ cut out card and matted it on the light pink card from the same paper, again you could use pink cardstock and save that card. To this card I added a ‘happy valentine’s day’ sticker from the 4×6 sticker set and a ‘you + me = love’ sticker from the 12×12 Combo sticker sheet which I cut off the word ‘love’ as that was already on the card.
I’ll be back on the 24th February sharing some more projects made with this collection.
Thanks for stopping by,
