Simple Sunny Scrapping with You Are Here

Hello All and welcome to my March blog post, I hope you are all enjoying this start of spring!  As I am sat here in the cold wind and hail I am coming to share with you sunny and tropical themed pages using the new Simple Stories You Are Here collection.
As you know I have been documenting my recent trip to the States and this collection was just perfect for the beach and palm tree photos.  I love how the Simple Stories collections make pocket scrapping so quick and simple, but I love my 12×12 pages and how versatile their papers are.
I used the Paper Pack mainly for these pages, but supplemented it with the matching Stickers, Wood Veneer Pack and the die-cuts.  I also got the 6X6 paper pad as I love how they scale down the cut-a-part sheets which with a bit of fussy cutting gives you some more fab die-cuts.

My first page is pretty simple, as a lot of the page real estate was taken up by the 6×12 title piece, this page is going to act as a divider between two different cities in my album and I just love all the different text.

I kept the layering really simple on this piece as I wanted to let the title do all the talking.  I used my masks and inks to great some interest in the background, but kept my layering tight to the photo to help ground it.

The wood veneer from this collection are fab and they vary in sizes which I really like, and you will see on later pages some more of the fab pieces.  As always there is a video on my YouTube channel for each of these pages, where I explain my process and random chatting along the way.  I also often film my shop hauls, which is are great for seeing how things look off the screen.  Please come and check my channel out and say hello.

For my next page I wanted to take another of the large paper pieces from the cut-a-part sheets this time a 2×12 strip of cameras.  I love to get lots of photos on my pages and this one worked perfectly to document my love of photos.

I used a selection of embellishments at the top left of the page and the bottom right, this helps to bring the eye a crossed the page.

For my title I used a mixture of the letter stickers from the collection pack and also one of the wood veneers.  The title reflects the amount of times I have seen this view in travel brochures and guides and how it was just as perfect in real life.

I am going to admit for this next page I did struggle a bit, I love the large photo realistic papers, but often find them hard to use as background, but for this one I knew I had the perfect palm tree photos that would work.

I kept my photo cluster high on this page so as to not cover up to much of the lovely background.  The photo realistic ‘Hello’ stickers work well for a title on this page too.

I created a sub-title using word strips printed on one of the 3×4 cut-a-part cards and layered these with a mixture of die-cuts and pieces cut from the 6×6 paper pad.

For my next page I decided to do something a little different for me.  I love a busy background and the map print paper was printed on a cream grid, which did not work with the bright whites I wanted to use in the die-cuts.  I decided to cut around it and mounted it on the bright turquoise chevron from the collection.

I again kept my photo cluster tight and to one area on the page in order to show off as much of the map print as I could.

There is a floral print and floral element that run through this collection, they are not something that I am really drawn to, but I did include a few element in with my clustering.

My finial page for this month using this collection was using one of the map print background papers, these coming in each of the dominant colours in this collection and are great as layering pieces.

I chose a photo of me and my boyfriend at a basketball game and decided to chuck a whole load of random embellishments at the page, including a pineapple.  I never know when to include pineapples on my pages, and this seemed as good as page as any.

I again used some of the word strip printed on a 4×6 cut-a-part card for my title, as I loved the sentiment.  I think I see more word strips on my pages in the future, as loved the ones in this collection.
I really enjoyed using this sunny collection, and have lots of pieces left to add to the pocket pages in my travel album too.  I also can not recommend the 6×6 paper pads enough as they add so much versatility to the papers.
I hope you all have a lovely March and I will see you in April when I will be fighting my way out of a sugar slump from all the Easter Eggs.  Happy Crafting.
