Sketches and preparation.

Hi everyone. It’s wendy here today and I have a different post for you. I thought I would show you my scrapbooking process from start to finish and I would love to hear how you do yours as well.
Sometimes I just sit down and create, but when I do that I find that I recreate the same layout over and over again. So over the last few months I have taken steps to halt this and try and make my pages different each time.
So I made myself an idea book. I have a lot of medical problems and some days I am just stuck on the sofa. Not wanting to waste my time just sitting staring at the tv screen I put myself together a little box full of stuff to use with my idea book.
I choose a page and start putting ideas down to put a page together. So when I am sitting at my table I don’t spend ages just trying to come up with an idea. I can pull out my book and I am ready to go. This ranges from a page I want to use an idea from Pinterest, a page based round a sketch or a page using a mood board as inspiration.
Here is one of my pages that I created for today, using one of those pages from my idea book. ( please excuse the really messy handwriting!!!)

I put the colours of the photo in the idea book. Now I mostly convert these to black and white but sometimes I have a photo and a line in mind and love it when the two come together. I tend to write down a tiny bit of journaling so I know when I come to write it I have the idea in mind.
Here is the page that I made using this idea from my sketch book.

As you can see I kept mainly to the colours and the collection that I selected before. I may have changed the sketch a bit to only include three squares across and not four.

I used a square heart combination cut file from the Silhouette shop for this page. But you do not have to have a cameo or another type of cutting machine to make these files. Some strips of card and some cut out hearts are easy to do.

Here are some of the close ups of the page.

After I had put the page together I moved everything off and added some watercolour to each section. I used the corresponding colours underneath each square.
Here are the supplies I used for this page.
Paper collection – Amy Tan on a whim and one sheet of Hustle and Heart from Amy Tan. One good thing about Amy Tan is that most of her collections can be mixed and matched easily.
Embellishments – Ellies Studio Wood Veneer I am in love with these, the are currently out of stock but when they come back in I will be buying more!
Stickers – Mambi Clear sticker book I have this and it is perfect! I have nearly run out of stickers from this book and will be re purchasing!
Frames – Vicki Boutin die cut frames  again these are ones that I have had my eye on for a while and I was really pleased when I saw them in real life they are gorgeous!
Here is the second page from my idea book!

Again this page pretty much sticks to the ideas in my book. I have changed a few, for example I changed the purple colour to aqua and I changed where the title went but for the most part it stayed the same.
Here is the page!
blog ready
I used a cut file again for the hexagon shape but I created my own smaller ones to add as embellishments
I did the same as the last page. I created the layout and then afterwards added the mixed media on the back ground. Not much just enough to peek out from behind the hexagons.
And now moving onto my planner for this month. I wanted to show you how I did my mission page for the month of August.
I used The line Fancy Pants Dream Big for this month. I used it for my mini album last month and I am still in love with this line!
I used more Fancy Pants on the monthly page this time. Using the line Hello Sunshine I put together all my appointments for the month of August.
