Sparkle City by Shimelle – Part 2

Hey Magpies, it’s Caroline back again. Today, I’m sharing three more layouts using Shimelle’s Sparkle City collection from American Crafts.

Riding the Waves

For my first layout I wanted to pick up on the shades of blue and turquoise in the photos and ended up making a monochromatic layout. Which is something I very rarely do.

I started by going through the papers and finding all the blue/turquoise based papers and cut a thin strip of each in varying lengths. Then I cut a banner end into each strip. I chose to place these strips down at the bottom of the page, with each one slightly overlapping the next.

Moving on to the photos, I matted them onto white and then black card, giving them a thin border of each colour. I did this so that the photos wouldn’t get lost against the patterned paper. I chose to position the photos towards the right of the page. Making sure to position them so that the ends of each paper strip was still visible to the right of the photo.

For the main part of my title, I chose to use the Thickers from the collection. I love that they are foam backed so they stick to the page brilliantly.  Then I added a subtitle using the little tile stickers from the Sticker and Washi Book Folder.

I chose three areas around the photo for embellishment. Layering up stickers from the Sticker and Washi Book Folder, along with a camera cut from the Non-stop Snapshot Paper. I finished my embellishment clusters with a perspex geotag and some enamel dots. Finishing off the page by adding three silver thicker stars from the Foam Phrase and Icon Thickers above my title. Along with my printed journaling strips.

For my second layout, I went away from my normal white cardstock background. Choosing to use the turquoise ledger print instead. I wanted this to be a bright summery layout. Therefore, I chose the yellow B-side of the Stargazing Paper and the pink B-side of the Polka Dot Pansy Paper to layer on the page. Selecting the B-side of the Clean Cup Paper to give my photo a mat and to make it stand out.

The Thickers in this collection are amazing and I was able to use just one of the Foam Phrase Thickers for my title. Positioning it at the bottom right of my photo. Also adding three of the silver stars from the same pack on the edges of the patterned paper, around my title.

For my embellishment, I chose to use some Elle’s Studio stamp sets. Stamping a number of phrases onto white card, which I then cut out and positioned along the right hand side of the page. Also stamping a chevron pattern directly onto the page in a couple of places.  To finish off this section, I added a few more of the silver stars around the phrases. I also added some embellishment to the left of the photo. Starting off with a strip of the B-side of the Dream Big Paper, which I tucked under my photo. Next I added a blue banner, from the cut apart sheet, onto which I stamped another row of chevrons and a wood veneer camera, backed with a piece of the yellow paper. Above this I placed another of the stamped phrases and another star.

To finish the layout I added my journaling below the photo with some more stars. As the background of this layout is lined, I seriously considered hand writing my journaling this time. However, as I know this layout will be going into an album with other layouts that are all likely to have printed journaling, I decided to keep it consistent and print it for this one too.

Lyons Den Birthday Treat

My final layout this week is a standard size traveler’s notebook spread, using three 3×2” photos. Firstly I matted the photos on to a piece of white card, leaving a thin border between each photo.

Next I chose two designs of patterned paper to layer underneath the photos. The Here to There and Mountain View designs. I really like the Mountain View paper especially the shades of purple, pink and turquoise.

I added my title to the white space below the photos. Choosing to use both the Glitter Cardstock Stickers and the little tile stickers from the Sticker and Washi Book Folder.

For my embellishment, I used a combination of stickers from the collection and also from Shimelle’s Designer Sticker Book as they coordinate really well. I also added the washi strip that matches the Mountain View paper to the top and bottom of the page.

To finish the page, I addied a few wood veneer flowers and my journaling strips.

That’s all from me for today, I hope you have enjoyed seeing Shimelle’s Sparkle City collection as much as I have enjoyed working with it. You can find Sparkle City in the shop here.

I will be back again next month, so until then, Happy Scrapping!
