Sunny Days – Part 2 Philippa McCray

Hi there Magpies

I’ve loved working with the Sunny Days collection by Maggie Holmes for Crate Paper and judging by the number of amazing layouts and projects I’ve seen on social media, a lot of other people have too!!

I hold my hand up, I love mini books! I decided to create one about our Tuscan holiday last month and the words ‘every summer has a story’ on the Charm Paper seemed the perfect title.

I used one sheet of 12×12 cardstock to create the basic structure of my mini book. There are lots of You Tube videos showing how to do this if you don’t already know! I love the photo of us in a field of sunflowers and wanted to use it as my front cover.

The plane and car Chipboard Accents were perfect for the first two pages about our journey. I’m not sure why my eldest daughter found our hats so amusing but she felt the need to take photo and share it on our family WhatsApp Group! The hire car was so ridiculously small it was laughable!!

I like to add interest with tags and pockets and use photos of different sizes. I find 6 2×2 photos printed on a 6×4 sheet of photo paper are great fillers for mini books.

Not surprisingly food featured a lot during the week and we had some amazing meals and a great tour of a winery, with tastings of course!

I cut the little cameras from the Snapshot paper and used them on a few pages for continuity, on some, I swapped the coloured lenses and added an enamel dot for fun!

I used bits and pieces from the Die cut ephemera and from my own stash to give the mini book a personal touch.

I like to collect cards from restaurants we visit and I’ve included one here along with some dried olive leaves tucked inside a clear pocket cut from a bigger pocket page adhered with double sided tape.

At the moment I’m using a small vintage case to store my mini books and tag books and get a lot of pleasure from flipping through them every once in a while.

Thanks for stopping by. Hopefully we will still have some sunny days to enjoy and maybe you’ll be inspired to check out the collection to document yours. My other projects using Sunny Days can be found here.

I’ll be back next month using a new collection, until then…Happy scrapping!
