Sunshine and Happiness
Sunshine and Happiness from Simple Stories passed me by on its first appearance on the Hey Little Magpie website – but I don’t know why . I blame the fact that our early summer here in the UK was anything but sunshine and happiness so I wasn’t feeling the bright sunny colours – but boy am I glad I re-dsicovered it a short while later ! It looks god enough to eat and Simple Stories always put together such beautiful collections that you could almost make a layout with your eyes closed ( yes I know my layouts sometimes look like that but hey ! ) .
There are papers, cut a parts, enamel dots and brads, alphas, stickers, chipboard, sn@p pack with all different sized elements – you name it , they’ve made it . The collection can be found here.
This first layout includes a pretty awful selfie taken at arms length but whilst the quality of the photo may be dodgy, the colours in the collection make it sing as your eye is taken to the bright zingy patterns. I can’t believe I never used to like the colour yellow – what was wrong with me ?!
Picking up on the trend for all things geometric this first layout features my fave pattern from the whole collection – High Five which would look great on its own or cut apart as I’ve done. There are heaps of cards in the sn@p pack which you can use as titles too.
I managed to sneak in a little flamingo with his neck curled around the ‘c’ in ‘scrap’. You’ve gotta have a bit of flamingo wherever you can with colours like these !
A little pop of gold complements the sunny theme.
For this next layout I edited a photo using an effect called ‘ Light Spill ‘ which turned it into a funky psychedelic rainbow which went perfectly with the colours in the collection for this next layout . The colours speak for themselves so I’ve kept it simple ( my excuse anyway ) with just a simple title .
This collection also includes some lovely co-ordinating brads and enamel dots.
The ‘ Don’t ever quit your daydream ‘ stamp is from Pinkfresh Studio’s called Good Sayings – these re amazing value at £6.99 for a set of 9 very usable sayings – my new favourite set.
Lastly, I had another play with some paint powders to create a title which I splattered through a hand cut stencil – it reminds me of a sprinkled donut and complements the colours in the flip side of the patterned paper Shine Bright .
I smeared some chalk white paint across the left had side of the card stock which is supposed to look like the same face mask goo we were wearing .. and yes I do look like Heath Ledger’s ‘Joker’ from the Batman film ! A splattering of Nuvo’s Crystal Drops completes the page – I LOVE those bottles of magic !
Have fun , spread a little colour and remember to enjoy the ‘Sunshine and Happiness’ that summer is all about !
