Travel Documentation Project Life Style ft. Simple Stories Summer Vibes
Hi Everyone. I hope you are all having a brilliant summer and are taking lots and lots of photos to document your memories, on the subject of lots of photos that is what I tackled with this months project.
I recently returned from a 3 week trip away in the States and to say we took a few photos is a bit of an understatement, in the first edit I’m down to about 2600!! I was really excited to go through them all on my return and have lots of pages planned to show you the coming months, or years( I have only just finished my 2012 trip album). I wanted to make sure I still documented the 3 weeks within my Project Life album for this year, so I picked a photo to represent each day/event and a single collection to get in down and in the album. I chose to work mainly with the Simple Stories Summer Vibes Collection Pack.
I knew that I wanted to include a lot of photos, and the easiest and quickest way for me to print these was to create a photo collage in an app (I use the Project Life app) on my iphone, and print these at home. I ended up with a stack of 53 photos, which were just under 2 inches square. I explain this in a bit more detail in my set up video, which can be found on my YouTube Channel HERE.
I started by cutting down the cut-a-part sheets from this collection and arranging my photos in chronological order, it was then my favourite part of my Project Life album, the embellishment. I made my self up a small kit of supplies to work with the Simple Stories Summer Vibes Collection, I have listed these items below.
Amy Tangerine Rise and Shine Wood Mounted Stamps
Elle’s Studio Lets Eat – Good Eats Stamp
Elle’s Studio Lets Eat – We Ate Here Stamp
Imaginisce Happy Traveller – Plane Stamp
Technique Tuesday – Ali Edwards Travel with Flair
Roller Date Stamp from my stash.
Various Stamps from my stash
Various Inks from my stash – I have my eye on the Avery Elle inks in the shop
Various washi Tape from my stash – Similar can be found here
Small Tile Alphas from my stash – Similar can be found here
I decided to use variety of page protector styles to document these spreads, I love how the cut-a-part sheets in the Simple Stories Summer Vibes collection, allows for 4×4 and regular pocket sizes. I want to apologies that the photos are not brilliant for these spreads, the weather was not my friend this week. I also had used my WRMK Fuse Tool to seal some of the pockets, and was unable to remove all the cards. I find with some of the older pocket pages the sizes are not as accurate, and my cards sometime float about, this Fuse Tool is great for solving this.
I created 5 12×12 spreads to cover the time I was away. This first spread includes the last bits of holiday prep as well as the flight and first day. I just love the colours in this Summer Vibes collection and the colours are very West Coast to me, and complement the sunny photos I wanted to document. I used the alphas from the Summer Vibes Expressions Sticker sheet to create my title card, I decided to do one to cover all the spreads.
For spread 2 I used pocket design N, I really like the 4×4 cards in the middle of this page. I try to keep my embellishments clusters consistent across my Project Life spread, even if it is just a single page. I used my 1 inch circle punch with both the Ali Edwards Stamps and the Amy Tangerine stamps, they make great flat flair, or you can add epoxy stickers over them like I did in some cases.
For spread 3 I did use the reverse of some of the cards, as I really could not chose which one to use, that is a benefit of having a series of photos that stretch across a number of pages, The stickers from the collection made great embellishments on the cards as many are of a smaller size. Their is also a couple of border strips that I cut down to work in with the washi tape. I did leave some of the cards just plain as fillers as they were just too cute to not use.
For spread 4 as soon as I saw the 4×4 camera card I knew I wanted to make it a focus the design O style page protector was perfect for this. I love how the printed elements on the cards make it easy to add a couple of simple embellishments and for the card to look complete. I also love all the bokeh pattern and printed confetti in this collection that you really don’t need to add to much.
For spread 5 I realised I had a lot of photos left, the great thing about them being a small size was that I could easily add couple to a card and have room for a title or some embellishment. This spread also includes a photo from London ComCon that we attended when we arrived back, after a 38 hour delay, I am looking forward to documenting all the photos form that too.
I have really enjoyed using this collection and still have lots of the 12×12 papers that I can use to document my trip in my main holiday albums, I also have lost of the stickers and alphas left too. I hope you have enjoyed seeing the Project Life spreads I have created, over this week I will be sharing my process in videos over on my YouTube channel.
I am sure next month I will be back with more photos from my trip and more beautiful papers that are arriving in the shop. I will be keeping and eye on the NEW IN section to see what takes my fancy. Have a wonderful August everyone.
