Using a Heidi Swapp Wanderlust Flea Market Pouch

Hey Magpies, this month for my blog post I decided to keep using the amazing B Side collection from Basic Grey because I am still loving that, and I also chose to order one of the Heidi Swapp Flea Market Pouches, there are 3 different designs, Make Pretty Stuff, Sparkle & Shine and I chose the Wanderlust one. I had seen these in the shop and was very nosy as to what was in one. So here’s what you get when you order a pouch, it is actually a cute little plastic zippered pouch which I am thinking I will have to use to make a little pack up for my next trip! I like to do some journalling when I’m flying, to make note of what meals I’ve had and what movies I’ve watched. This pouch will be perfect to hold a few pens and stickers!

I did take a photo of the contents before I started using them as well. Along with the pouch there is a selection of tags and printed cards, large self adhesive gems, 8 gold foil chipboard banners/arrows, some grosgrain ribbon wrapped around a cute little tag and then there’s 6 clear printed acetate titles in a square glassine envelope.

I have taken a photo of the acetate titles on their own cause I wasn’t sure they would show up in the photo above well enough. I love these and will probably hoard them forever but I did manage to use the ‘smile’ one on my Mykonos LO below. The gold ones are real proper gold (I had trouble photographing it on my LO below) and the ‘life is good’ one is white.

My first LO uses bits from the pouch and also I got these Maggie Holmes Shine, Tassels and had to use one of them! They’re just fab and really add something special to a LO I think. I’m also thinking I will have to add one to a card at some stage, I can see one hanging down to spine looking gorgeous! I love the addition of the beads to the top of the tassel, it’s great.

I also used one of the Dear Lizzy Cork Bows from her latest line, Documented. These are just awesome, they are really special and very dimensional, they make your LO extra special.

My LO uses one of the cards from the Wanderlust Pouch, it’s the triangle design card in behind and then I used a couple of strips of B Side paper above and below, I used the turquoise Shine On paper and the black & white striped Well Yes paper. I used the ‘favorite’ tag from the Wanderlust Pouch and the ‘vacay’ wood veneer title is also Heidi Swapp from the Wanderlust Wood Veneer Words – Adventure pack. I popped the Dear Lizzy Cork Bow on, tied the Maggie Holmes Shine Tassel on to the tag and then dotted around some vellum stars which were from the Seven Paper Darcy collection but are now out of stock sorry.

This month I ordered the new Maggie Holmes Shine, 4″ Gold Foil Alphabet and OMG, they are AMAZING!!! If you’ve read my blog posts before, you’ll know that I’m a big fan of the Journey Chalkboard Alphabet Stickers and have used them quite a lot. This new gold foil alphabet is just as fab. This time they are a thick chipboard letter and they’re 4″ tall, they’re massive! I love them and can’t wait for them to be back in stock cause I’m buying a second box! These are definitely worth the money and it’s well worth signing up for an email alert for when they come back in stock. You DO need these in your life!

For this LO I knew I wanted to paint the letters white so I sanded them a bit with a nail file/emery board. I took a photo of them after and I did like the effect the sanding produced so I thought I would share. I thought I would need to sand to give the paint a surface to cling to but I don’t think I needed to at all. If I was doing it again, I wouldn’t bother sanding. Especially as I was painting the letters white, I had to do so many layers because my paint kept going yellow – because I sanded! But you live and learn don’t you. If you want to paint your gold letters, don’t sand them first if you’re painting white!

I have broken one of my own rules here and the photo is looking off the page, which is a big design no-no. But I will put this in the album as a right hand side so the photo will be looking in to the middle of the album. This LO is super simple, I just didn’t think I needed much apart from the photo and those massive letters! I added a Heidi Swapp wood veneer title over the top of the large letters. I coloured this black with a Sharpie and then put a few layers of Glossy Accents over the top to make it nice and glossy. I didn’t have to add much else, just a label to the side of the photo which I put one of my heavily hoarded Heidi Swapp hearts on and some small word stickers. I used a strip of Hey Little Magpie Washi Tape under the title and then I added 3 red pearls from the HLM £1 Range above and below. Job done. Super simple and effective.

This LO I kept quite simple as well – A: because that’s my style, but also B: to let those massive gold letters shine! As soon as I got my box of Maggie Holmes 4″ Gold Foil Alphabet Letters I knew I wanted to do an OMG LO and I knew this photo would be perfect. This is me looking at a slice of Mile High Chiffon Banana Pie from Mel’s Diner in Fort Myers, Florida. It was amazing! I was with my friends Stephanie and Tabatha and we managed to demolish it! It was pretty impressive though I assure you! So I laid out my OMG letters beside my photo and built the LO around that. I used a ruler from the Maggie Holmes Shine Cheer Paper and also a random strip of black & white paper, I’m not sure where that came from? I tend to leave all the offcuts I like, beside my craft mat on my desk and just pick bits out that fit what I’m doing! Under the papers I placed a strip of Self Adhesive Gems from HLM, they’re so handy I always keep a few packs on hand. I made a little cluster above the photo, the ‘sweet stuff’ clip is from the Maggie Holmes Shine Ephemera pack and I added an old wood veneer heart that I coloured red and added Glossy Accents to, and some small word stickers from Maggie Holmes Confetti. Some old photo turns and a label to add journalling and I was finished.

I am a massive fan of Thickers and hoard a huge collection of them. I love these new ones from Maggie Holmes Shine, Detail Thickers and had to add them to my stash!
CP_MH_Thickers
This next LO has a right hodge podge of stash on it. I started with my photo and then made a grid around that using papers from B Side, I think they came from the 6×6 pad but they are the Hey There and Monet papers. Then I put a strip of Hey Little Magpie Washi Tape above and below to complete my grid. I used bits of Ephemera from B Side and the gold foiled banners and adhesive gems from the Wanderlust Pouch.

I have to highlight some MAMBI Puffy Stickers again, they are one of my very favourite products from Hey Little Magpie! These ones are the Laugh, Bliss & Life pack and they’re so cute. At only £1.79 a pack, these puffy stickers are such a bargain.

My last LO uses more bits from the Wanderlust Pouch, the journalling tag (which I have journalled on but I wanted to keep it private so I added it after I photographed) and the ‘smile’ acetate title. I also used a Heidi Swapp paperclip tag but I can’t find them in the shop to link them now sorry. I also added a strip of the B Side Shine On paper, a button from the Resin Buttons & Flowers pack as well as some bits of Ephemera from B Side as well. Then I dotted around some super old gems I had because they matched the blue in my photo perfectly. They’re so old I don’t even know what they are but they might have been Pebbles sugar dots or something like that?

I struggled to photograph the title on my LO properly so I’ve done a close up photo here. The gold is proper shiny gold and the weather wasn’t helping me on the day so I had to photograph from the side to capture it properly!

So there we have it, more clean and simple LO’s from me. I don’t know what it is about Heidi Swapp but when I use her products for my blog post, I can really churn out the LO’s! And I’m still loving B Side, it has to be one of my favourite Basic Grey collections. I still hanker after Blush from way back in the day, those pinks and aquas really rocked my world. I have ordered more Basic Grey for my blog post in December, bits and bobs from the new collections, Typeset and Sunkissed so I’m planning to mix them in with stuff I have left from B Side. So I’ll see you then! xXx
