Using your Stash

Hello! It’s Jo here with some scrapbook layouts using old supplies mixed with some new bits and pieces. I know there will be several of you who have shopped in the current sale, and others who may have some of these supplies lurking in your stash.
Layout 1 – ‘You had me at the stylish packaging’ – yep, it’s true!
HLM DT Jo Layout1
For this layout I mixed older stash with a new paper and new HLM black and white heart washi tape. The flowers are fussy cut from the ‘Getaway‘ from the Crate Paper Oasis collection, they made me think of the flowers on my mug in the photo. The background blue polka dot paper is the B-side of an old Pebbles Inc paper ‘Thankful’ from the 2015 Woodland Forest collection. I do love generic B-sides that can be used for any occasion and it’s also in the sale at 50% off, so forget to check the B-sides of papers. The blue and pink washi tapes are from the Maggie Holmes Bloom Washi Stickers booklet, which was in the sale and has sold out, but if you managed to bag one you will love it! The letter stickers are Elle’s Studio, these are the teal colour and there are other colours available too here. The tag is a super old Dear Lizzy one from my stash and those washi tape hearts were also in the Maggie Holmes Washi Sticker pack.

Layout 2 – ‘Blue Sky & Bunting!’

For this layout I used a favourite Maggie Holmes paper ‘Afternoon‘ from the Bloom collection,  it’s currently in the sale too! I added a strip of that gorgeous Hey Little Magpie black and white hearts washi tape on the top band of the paper and stitched along both sides for extra effect. I then stitched two lines for the bunting on the top half of the layout, then added flags made from a mixture of patterned paper and washi tape flags from the MH Bloom booklet. You can achieve the same look with washi tape from your stash or there’s several gorgeous bunting washi tapes in the store hereherehere and here. The glitter foam thickers are from an old Dear Lizzy collection which have sold out in the sale, however these Maggie Holmes ones are similar. The photo stack is made up of layered papers, the blue polka dot one from the first layout, gold dots (Jen Hadfield Everyday collection which has just sold out), tiny black dots (Pebbles Spring Fling ‘Chalkboard Floral‘ on sale here) and a pink paper from the Crate Paper Cute Girl collection (this paper has sold out in the sale, however this similar paper is still available at 50% off).

Layout 3 – ‘Ice Cream’
HLM DT Jo Layout3
This layout has layers of cardstock, paper and tissue strips at each side. Using strips is a good way to stretch your stash rather than layering sheet upon sheet of paper or cardstock. The top paper is Maggie Holmes ‘Flourish’ from the Bloom collection which has just sold out in the sale. I used it partly because it reminded me of black and white cows and the layout was about ice cream, which is made from milk. There’s actually a ‘Moo Cow’ paper in the Bella Blvd collection Barnyard that would have been perfect! The background tiny black dot paper is the B-side of the ‘Chalkboard Floral’ paper from the old Pebbles Spring Fling collection which is on sale at the moment. I love it! The pink paper is an out of stock one, but this is a very similar. The turquoise is American Crafts textured cardstock called ‘Powder‘. The pink washi tape is from the Maggie Holmes ‘Bloom’ washi sticker booklet and the hearts and clouds washi tape is by Freckled Fawn from my stash and I’m sure there’s a few of you who have it in your stash or there’s this cloud one in store. The tags, thickers and twine are from my stash to0. The gold foil cork stars are new Freckled Fawn and the white tissue paper is what my Hey Little Magpie order came wrapped in!

Layout 4 – ‘Create’

My final layout uses Simple Stories The Reset Girl collection. I made this layout at our HLM DT weekend and it was based around the large glitter word by Jen Hadfield for Pebbles. I’d bought a pack of these large glitter words with me to give away as I’d only used one in the pack. It then became a challenge for each of us to use one of the words on a layout (DT member Niki had also brought a pack with her). I chose ‘Create’ and paired it with photos from our weekend of us all creating together. I pulled out some stash from The Reset Girl collection I’d taken with me, unfortunately the only item I used on my layout which is still in stock after the sale started is the ‘Aztec/Typeset‘ paper, although there are lots of the collection papers left in the sale. That must mean there’s several of you who have these bits now in your stash!

I added several extra photos into the pocket, along with journaling and a list of those of us who were there. I also tucked a chipboard pencil and chipboard rubber inside too.

Challenges are a great way to boost your creativity and use some stash, especially if there’s a reward for the winner. We always have a challenge running on our HLM Chat and Inspiration Facebook group, with a new one being posted each Friday that runs for a fortnight. Check the pinned post in the group for the current challenge and you could win 500 Magpie points worth £5 to spend in store on more stash! If you aren’t a member of the group, just click the request button and one of us will accept you.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you all get time to be creative with your stash, old and new!
