Vintage Botanicals – Simple Stories (Part 2) – Philippa McCray

Hi there Magpies, Philippa with you today sharing two more projects using Simple Stories Vintage Botanicals collection.

I decided to make a tag album with the idea that I’d include some photos of my Mum and Dad in their younger days. I felt the collection would compliment the vintage photos!

I accept that old photos are not as crisp and clear but I don’t mind that.

I started by die cutting tags in 3 different sizes from a variety of papers. To embellish the tags I used Bits & Pieces from the Die Cuts, stickers from the 12 x 12 Combo Sticker sheet and some of the Chipboard Elements. For added interest I used hand and machine stitching and pieces of vintage lace from my stash. Where I used machine stitching I stuck two tags back to back to hide the messy bits!

I created a pocket on one of the medium sized tags and on another I machine stitched around three sides only so I could tuck in an envelope for secret journaling (see below – tag with photo on).

I’ve still got some photos to slot in and will add some handwritten journalling. I’m pleased with how it turned out and hope I’ve given you some ideas!

For my second project I documented a family day over the Easter weekend in my traveller’s notebook.

A travellers notebook page is a great way to use small bits of ephemera and paper scraps! I’m currently using my webster’s pages notebook but could easily be tempted by some of those on offer in the shop right now! Take a look at the American Crafts Journal Studio Travellers Notebook Bundle – Amy Tangerine Life Journal. It’s amazing value and a good place to start if you’ve not done a TN before.

I’ve really enjoyed working with this collection. I’ll be back next month with something completely different!

Happy scrapping!
