Warm & Cosy Golden Days
Hi Magpies, Julie back with you today, sharing 3 layouts using Fancy Pants Designs ‘ Golden Days’ mixed in with Pebbles Jen Hadfield ‘Warm & Cosy’. Now these are 2 collections I completely overlooked when looking online, in the shop, but was lucky enough to go on a retreat, Birds of a Feather, & Hey Little Magpie had brought the shop along so got to see them in the flesh & loved them. I purchased them there & then & set about creating as soon as I got home.
For my first layout ‘Nature’s Paintbrush’ I wanted to use the pack of chipboard leaves that comes in the warm & cosy collection. I first splattered a piece of white cardstock with all sorts of autumnal colours of ink & added the forever with you paper, at an angle, on the right having stitched the edges first. I added some gilding paste to the edges of each leaf, to help them stand out, & added those down the left side. I added my photos, on the woodgrain paper & rubbed some of the gold foil rub ons, from pebbles, around the photos. These are fab, go on really easy & add a great touch. I then layered up on top of the leaves with cardstock & acetate ephemera die cuts, leaf paperclips & puffy stickers all from Fancy Pants. I finished off the layout with a bit of stitching, a Fancy Pants flair badge & a few of the foiled phrase stickers from Crate Paper Gather collection.
My second layout ‘ Birds of a feather scrap together’ is using a photo, of my fellow Hey Little Magpie DT team members, Jackie, Sam & Sheena, taken at the previously mentioned retreat, which they had organised. This photo was not taken by me but another crafter, Rubina Latif, & I asked her permission to use it & she kindly agreed.
I first cut the title on my cameo using a variety of fonts. I then inked & added texture paste to the background. I backed each word with some papers from both collections & stamped around the title using the Fancy Pants Golden Days clear stamp set, which was just perfect for this project. I also cut some feathers from white cardstock which I also inked & backed with papers & added those along side some real feathers around the photo & on the top left. I again added some ephemera & a few tags & finished it with 2 flair badges, one from Fancy Pants & another exclusive one from Hey Little Magpie.
My final layout to share is a great design I go back to all the time, a grid layout. I wanted to use some of the quotes on the warm quotes paper & thought this was one way of doing it. I first added inks to my cardstock & then chose 3 quotes & put them around the page, adding papers behind them. My photos are of my crazy family, a normal photo always ends up in another mad photo being taken, but I love this & it needs remembering. I added papers to the back of the photos & stitched around all the elements before I stuck them down. I then went mad with the embellishments, as usual!! Adding rub ons, ephemera, puffy stickers & a flair badge. My title comes from the Pebbles Rose gold word stickers & just reads ‘Blessed’ which I believe I truly am.
Thanks for sticking with me to the end of this rambling post, until next time, Julie xoxo
