This month I’ve been having so much fun playing with one of the latest Crate collections Wild Heart. At the same time I’ve been breaking into my new Tim Holtz Oxide inks.
Daft I know, but finally after a couple of months of having them, I managed to remove the cellophane wrapper. Let’s just say the rest is history!
For my first layout I chose to zone in on the limes and emerald greens in the collection. The ephemera pack has loads of die-cut cheese plant style leaves, both paper and vellum ones, along with tags and phrases.
One that I was especially drawn to was the ‘I like you and naps” phrase which reminded me of our new kitten, Bertie who simply eats, plays, sleeps and then does it all again! And he does need have a wild heart!
On one of our recent sunny days I took the camera out – he’s just beginning to explore and for every one photo in focus, there were another 10 that weren’t! I was really pleased with this image as the greenery was a perfect match to the tones in the papers.
For mixed media backgrounds I currently prefer the Vicki Boutin mixed media pad as it really holds the inks without buckling. I combined Fossilized Amber, Peeled Paint, Bundled Sage and Lucky Clover Oxide inks to the base of the layout, splattering, painting and smooching with them along with a panel of the ‘Palms’ paper. The base of the layout did have a couple of torn papers from the 6 x 8″ pad.
My second layout came together in an all time record! Usually I pontificate over a layout for hours – this one was no more than 90 minutes!
The toucan ‘Thrive’ paper was fabulous to go with the snapchat photos of me in our garden. I decided to accent on the ochre to match to the snapchat flower in my hair…
The parrot from the embossed puffy stickers sheet was the foundation for the colour combination along with the chipboard ‘Oh Yeah’ pennant.
Need an easy to use collection? Look no further than Wild Heart and play to your hearts content…
