Wish Season

Hi Magpies, Julie back with you today & can you believe we’re in December already!! So to get you in the mood for the festive season I’ve got 3 layouts all about Christmas. This month I choose to use a new collection from Fancy Pants called ‘Wish Season’ a beautiful collection full of great products with a colour palette of red, teal, pink, black & green. For my first layout ‘choosing the tree’ I took strips from the 6×6 paper pad & distressed the edges & sewed them down onto some white cardstock which I’d splattered with mists. I rolled up the left hand edges to shape them into a tree & added a star at the top & a trunk at the bottom. I used 2 small strips of holiday stripes paper & adhered all that to the whimsical forest paper. I made a paper mat for my photo using papers from the 6×6 paper pad & one of those awesome wood pieces from the amy tangerine finders keepers line. I added a few of the trees out of the ephemera pack & a small piece with 2015 on, a flair badge & some of the puffy sentiment stickers. I finished the page by adding the title using the die cut alphabet & number pack.

My second layout ‘Memories’ is a photo of my girls when they were much younger. I cut a strip from the season to wish paper & added some mist to it using the packaging technique & then added that to the B side of the holiday stripes paper. To that I added some texture paste through a stencil & a few strips of thin washi. I put my photo on just 2 photo mats, one black & one white which I’d embossed. I then added an abundance of bits in a vertical line where the two papers joined, die cuts, flair badges, circles cut from the 6×6 pad, puffy stickers & a few sequins for added sparkle. My title is a die cut from my favourite things-dieNamics-accent it-story titles & I’ve added it to the right hand side of my photo.

My last layout ‘The reluctant reindeer’ makes me smile. My youngest daughter brought these reindeer antlers for the dogs but Riley was not too keen on wearing them… think his face says it all.  I started by putting a bit of mixed media onto some white cardstock, using some mists & the new Heidi Swapp mixed media metallic texture paste in teal through a stencil. I then cut out 4 different frames on my silhouette & used them to make a grid on my page. I added photos to 2 of the frames, my journaling in another & the title in the fourth. I added bits & pieces of paper, ephemera, flair badges & puffy stickers all around the page, some under the frames & some on top & then I sewed 2 messy lines like a box around the whole grid. I finished the layout off with some bits of paper to the top & bottom of the page & some word label stickers from the simple stories Carpe Diem A5 planner line.
