Hello Gorgeous!

IMG_1632
Have you seen the new collection from My Minds Eye ‘Hello Gorgeous’? It really is gorgeous, especially if you’re like me and love florals and girlie colours. It’s reminds me a lot of the florals and colours you’d expect to see in a Cath Kidson store, and that for me is heaven! Below is what I ordered from the collection. There’s lots more 12×12 papers, as well as a 6×6 paper pad, stitched brads and frame-able art, but I limited myself to these.

The 3×4 Journal Cards pack was a must for me because I do Project Life, so that was one project sorted. However, as there are 24 cards in the collection including glitter and die-cut ones, several are simply too pretty to cover with a photo and journaling in a project life spread so I very quickly came to the decision to make a mini album too.

I also fell in love with the Chipboard Elements, in particular the large floral arrangement. It would be too big for a Project Life header card or the mini album I had planned, but it was perfect for a scrapbook layout, and that was the inspiration behind my third project this month.

Project Life Spread.

I cut a 4×6″ piece from the Jessica Paper for my Week 2 header card and embellished it by layering bits from the Mixed Bag Die-Cuts (the tag, bingo card and flowers) and the Sticker Set (the W, 2 and border strip) and stamped the dates.

The rest of the 4×6″ inserts are made from a trimmed piece of 12×12″ ‘Soft Blue Classic’ paper by Pebbles in the Jen Hadfield ‘DIY collection’. It’s the most perfect blue, I must order another sheet or two! All the 3×4 insert cards are from the MME Hello Gorgeous Journal Cards Pack. The pink letter stickers are from the MME Hello Gorgeous Sticker Pack, it’s an amazing pack with two sheets of letters, a sheet of numbers and three sheets of labels and tags. I embellished the spread further with enamel shapes from the MME Hello Gorgeous collection too. The journaling blocks are made from trimmed down Project Life white lined 4×6″ Journal Cards. I’m using Design A pocket protectors again this year and a WRMK 12×12 album. This will be my 5th year of doing Project Life.

3×4 Journal Card Mini Album

In addition to the MME Hello Gorgeous Journal Cards, I used a heart charm from the Simple Stories ‘Carpe Diem’ Metal Charms pack, a pink and a blue leather tassel from the Maggie Holmes Bloom Tassels pack, hearts from the Hey Little Magpie Enamel Heart Sticker pack and white American Crafts textured cardstock. I took inspiration from the Love journal card and used that as the front cover and the subject of my mini-album. I printed lots of 2 1/4″ photos of things I love, adhered the photos to the white cardstock cards and wrote in black pen ‘I love…’.

I added in 6 extra cards trimmed down from 12×12 paper, the blue floral (as seen on the back cover, with a teal vine pattern on the other side) is Jessica paper and the cream and multi-coloured floral paper (with a striped reverse side) is Sarah paper, both are from the Hello Gorgeous collection. I added a date label and my initials, all of which came from the sticker pack.
12×12″ Scrapbook Layout

I tore two strips of the Sarah paper and stitched them into position along the top and bottom of a 12×12″ piece of white cardstock. I knew I wanted the large floral element along the bottom of the photo with the title, both of which are from the chipboard elements pack. The rest of the die-cuts, chipboard pieces and wood veneer pieces were moved around until I was happy with their placement. I added two white doilies underneath the layered elements to soften them against the background. Actually the doilies are a perfect accompaniment to this collection, I’ll definitely be using them together again. When I’m putting together a layout I always look to form visual triangles to bring the eye into the page. Here the most obvious triangle is formed by the three wood veneer circles, the centre of this triangle being the journaling.

But if you look again you’ll see a triangle formed by the three yellow chipboard accents; the title, the thin chipboard word sticker and the No 1 tag. There’s also the three light blue elements surrounding the photo. They are all intentional.

I absolutely love the colour of the florals in this collection, I’m definitely going to be ordering more pieces from it!
